Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

I now have 4 versions of "Into the Mystic"
Van Morrison-Mark Cohn -Collen James-and now The Allman Brothers.
I've listened to this far more in the last couple of days than I ever did the original. They are all quite good.

You are becoming the master of different readings of Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic." The original is still the best, imho. The Allman's version starts the way I like the song, but the extended guitar passages are pure Allman. Sometimes a live version gives acts a chance to elongate their onstage presence.

Phil Emmanuel, Tommy's brother, who passed away just a few weeks ago, was also an excellent electric guitarist:

This is an impressive guitar player, if an interpretation of a classic must be done, Phil Emmanuel's version here is danged good. Thank you for cluing me into this player, I of course was ignorant of his existence.

I tried looking this up but Paul has so many albums out I didn't get to far. As best as I can remember he used LadySmith on at lest two albums. The first he went to Africa the second LSBM came to him.

Thought I would add one from Graceland with more of an African flavor. Truth be told, black people are better musicians and better athletes than we of the honkey race are. Imho, of course.

This Lady has been through the wringer and she has documented that troubled journey with a clarity and precision that both amazes and delights, have a sip ofwhat she's been drinking

A surprisingly valid, not to mention good song from Marianne in her beyond "teenage" years. Could do without the mediocre bridge, but it's always something with me. Oh no, I dissed again. Being a perfectionist is not a smart way to go. Who said I were smart?

In case I haven't convinced anyone to pay her some attention

A good tune. Personally speaking I don't really know how to keep one eye on insanity. It seems to demand that both eyes be fixed on it. Maybe one eye can come away from it, followed by the other. That would be nice.

This one just keeps growing on me, sometimes when I sleep! ":O}

Amazing to see Carlos playing an acoustic guitar, and one with nylon strings to boot! Once upon a time they overplayed the hell out of one of Santana's early recordings on FM radio. Kinda set me against him since then. Sure, it wasn't his fault, maybe the record company had money to burn paying payola to those stations?

George, I spent 10 years on the mat Principally Tae Kwon Do. And I can tell that The absolutely the most meaningless way to judge an opponent is by the color of their skin. Skin color is quite literally the shallowest measure of a person, nothing can tell you less about them.

I ask you to look back over the artists we've chosen to post and ask yourself can you really make any determination to their accomplishments or their talents by examining their skin?

If, and indeed they have, Blacks have led most if not all of the major trends in music for my lifetime and continue to excel in what they have begun; then I would submit that it's cultural.

They have been citizens of a country within a country. When people are oppressed they turn inward. When people turn inward they find themselves as how could they not. But few who are not oppressed ever turn inward with determination

When one penetrates something,Grasps something without concept, in it's original unadulterated form, . be it self or music, one has joy.

When one is oppressed, one experiences, frustration, sorrow, anger and fear.
Now NOBODY not even me is going to like this But oppression is the climate within which the master teaches his students.
Think not?
10,000 times. This is the way nature teaches your body, 10,000 times Muscle memory requires 10,000 times.
But that's just to get good, to become great, for that there is no number.

Constant repletion is oppression. But if one finds guidance in their turning inward one can penetrate to the very heart of what oppress one. When one penetrates something, one finds joy. If one learns a new chord or fingering
one finds joy.

In the teachings of Don Juan. Carlos is sitting with his teacher in an outdoor cafe in Mexico city .
As they eat they watch dirty little boys and girls dressed in rags rushing in as people leave to clean the remains from the patrons plates.

Don Juan stares at Carlos and then in an accusatory voice asks him,
"You feel sorry for them don't you?
Carlos is shocked and a bit offended
"Yes I do.! Who wouldn't! They have nothing, they live in dirt and dress in rags,
Don Juan nods and says
"I thought you wanted to become a man of knowledge."
Carlos is puzzled to say the least.
I do want that! I do want to see as you see.

Don Juan continues:
These boys have a chance to have a chance.
The world will not leave them alone, it will exert constant pressure and force them to turn inward and examine the nature of their oppression.
Most will not and will live embittered lives. There are no guarantees.
They only have a chance to have a chance. But the ones who do become men of knowledge.

Men of knowledge always have a chance, they create it within themselves."

It is cultural..

FYI Biologically speaking there is no such thing as race beyond the Human Race.
There are just different colored people and color is meaningless as biological classification.
What you find beneath every skin in an individual.

what kind of individual, well for that, we all have to look a little deeper don't we.":O}

The Hermit.
Go slow, much is hidden, much is revealed.

I first came across Johnny in the movie the Blues brothers 2000.

He's grown on me since.

All I can say is that for me, this song endures, I must have listened to it a hundred times and still find it enjoyable. Hope you do as well.":O}

One of my top 10 from the 80's

Dire Straits – Brothers In Arms

"Brothers In Arms" as written by Mark Knopfler....

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Someday you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn to be
Brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed your suffering
As the battle raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the sun's gone to hell and
The moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line in your palm
We are fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

Found this wonderful song today. I have tears in my eyes listening to it. I took Marine to see them befor she passed.
Great memory for me!

Another take on a favorite song... Honestly I laughted and cried when I found this just now....Little people just keep amazing me. A new voice just being born.

The lyrics modified to meet the occasion...Somehow i seriously doubt that Leonard would mind.

If you look closely you can see the one's, Like myself, who have been counseled to be silent.":O}
