I thought this was happening before but wasn't sure The 430 cut sound online and in my music player, system wide I guess. On the bright side I get much higher rez choices now with the 430 than I did with the 340 Screenshot from 2019-07-22 11-05-11.png

Would've been nice to know that a couple of days ago; ) Ok, next: while still connected directly to your tv...

    Reinstall the edid app:

    sudo apt-get install read-edid
    sudo get-edid -q|parse-edid

    Paste output

Ah splendid, so the problem is just convincing your AVR that it exists. Bear with me

Excellent. I noticed in the screenshots before that you'd set the screen to only 30Hz in nVidia Settings. The whole point of this exercise is to get you 4K@60Hz, and thus get rid of that awful flickering... so leave it set to either "Auto" or 60Hz in future.

Anyway, xrandr showed it was a 4K@60Hz desktop, so we now have that capability. Watch this space > <

    Now at 60hz and happy to be there":O}

Previous it would only go to 30hz max when at 4096. I just checked it on a whim.
    And...
your the one who has to know what we are doing so keep a closer eye on me! LOL

OK, so here's what we do next, because having proven that there's nothing wrong with either your computer, or your TV, we now just have to convince your AVR to play nicely. Leave everything connected to the TV just for the moment.

Download the attached file. I assume it downloads again to /home/daniel/Downloads

    Then
    cd /home/daniel/Downloads
    tar -xzf 4096x2160.bin.tar.gz
    sudo cp 4096x2160.bin /etc/X11/.

    Then do this:

    sudo nvidia-xconfig -s --no-composite --force-generate --output-xconfig=/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf.test

    Then

    cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf.test

    and paste the output

OK, you needed to download the file I'd attached to my last message before attempting to run the instructions - rookie mistake, but still, one that rather stopped the rest from working.

OK, it's 11pm and I'm up at 5am, so need to sleep now. We'll get this working tomorrow - I'm pretty sure we're just a couple of button-clicks away.

    EDIT could you also:
    Open nvidia-settings
In the menu-bar on the left click where it says "HDMI-0 HISENSE" then on its page click "acquire EDID"

Select the type as Binary, then save it in /home/daniel as something like hisense.bin
