In Steam Company of Heroes 2 ran perfectly in Linux. At first I thought there was a problem with audio, but realized that my surround system had to be set for stereo. The surround settings in-game do not seem to work, but stereo is fine. I didn't have any other issues!

Spellforce is a blend of rpg and rts, and this game manages this blend masterfully. Most of the game is very heavy on real time strategy elements, but through the entire game you have your main character that will keep gaining experience, skills and equipment. The game is divided into maps, and almost every map have a lot of territory to explore and many side quests for those who enjoy such diversions. Some maps play more like traditional rpg games where you only have your main character and a party of heroes. On such maps, you either explore the wilderness or a huge city in traditional rpg style.

Dawn of War 2 is the successor to the popular Dawn of War strategy game. Unlike the predecessor, this game focus on small squad tactics. You control small squads, and a lot of the gameplay focus around moving strategically while making intelligent use of cover and squad abilities. Fans of the Warhammer 40k franchise will appreciate the atmosphere of the game, which really give you a good 40k feel.

NOTE: Dawn of War 2, along with both expansions, are now available for Linux on Steam. The Linux version runs perfectly and so you probably don't need to install the Windows version as explained in this guide, simply get the Linux version from Linux Steam.

There have been a number of games based on the world from Warhammer 40,000, with varying degrees of success. Dawn of War is definitely among the successful titles. It is a fast-paced real-time strategy game that has captured the essense of the WH40k catch phrase. In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.

Dungeon Keeper is an old classic that has won its way into the hearts of lots of people. You take the role of an evil overlord of the underworld. You use magical imps to construct your evil dungeon, attract minions to fight for you. Then you lure the goodly heroes to come for all your hoarded treasures, only to fall victim to your traps and minions after which they are dragged off to your prisons, torture chambers and cemeteries.

Everything works great in this game, but I have not been able to get it running perfectly smoothly when using higher definition, which is activated by pressing [ALT + r] while in game. Otherwise everything works perfectly.

The Heroes Chronicles games are a bit of an oddity. In almost all ways, these games are exactly like Heroes of Might and Magic 3. They were originally released as separate games, each game with only a single campaign, no single scenarios and no multiplayer. These games are much easier than Heroes 3, and as such are an excellent entry for new players to the series. There is also heavy focus on the story through each campaign, with lots of story text as you play.
