Just Cause 2 is an explosive open world action game with sandbox vehicular combat and grappling hook fun you can ever have! LET IT DIE is a free to play 3rd person action survival game with a tournament style game-play. Select a male or female clone and climb the tower by slaying robots, clones and looting their corpse for gear. Eat and store frogs, mushrooms and other stuff to power up or poison yourself. This is a single-player game but almost seems like a multi-player game because you will fight against your previous characters that died.

Apparently this is a survival game but I didn't see very many survival needs... no hunger, water, sleep, or crafting. There is weapon crafting in the lobby and you can customize your characters, but it seems when you die the next start is with a brand new clone with nothing but underwear. Also, most of the levels are flat, so it doesn't really feel like you are climbing a tower until you get to the ladder at the end.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is another epic first person shooter where you play as a mercenary near Russian borders in an open world. Complete missions and return to your hideout to upgrade your weapons add accessories and replenish your health. Awake the next day for another bloodbath as a Sniper, Ghost or Warrior. You can also explore by driving vehicles or using your trusted drone and find secret stashes and secret sniping locations.

As you can see in the above video, Sniper GW 3 plays pretty well in PlayOnLinux with Wine.

Sadly there is a problem... When I start a new game it runs great with high frame rates like a native game, but when I quit and reload the game the frame rates drop to the point of unplayable.

I've tried different versions of Wine, Wine staging and even Proton... nothing seems to fix this problem. I've researched online and even posted on reddit about it...

Borderlands franchise are epic vault hunter games with procedurally generated weapons, RPG elements, crazy minions, vehicular combat and awesome skills. On top of all that, fully co-op campaigns.

Linux gamers are happy to have native ports for both Borderlands 2 and Pre-Sequel. Pre-Sequel specifically has an awesome space-oriented campaign on the moon of Pandora and broken/destroyed ships. LEGO has an ongoing franchise in re-creating movies as action puzzle games. LEGO The Hobbit follows the story of Bilbo Baggins with humor, boss fights, clever puzzles, LEGO crafting and lots of hack-n-slash action.
Even play through the store co-op with a friend! Graphically this game is absolutely beautiful! I was able to play in HD 1080 and never a performance for frame rate drop.

Proton handles LEGO The Hobbit without any issues. I am able to play right out-of-the-box with keyboard/mouse and my Xbox controller. There were only minor issues in the game that Windows gamers experience as well. Other than that, it is fun, clever and frustrating game like all the LEGO series.

Necrovision is a WWII Military shooter franchise with a zombie-Wolfenstein feel. Lost Company is a prequel throwing you back into battle with a small platoon of soldiers who sometimes help you take out zombies and possessed Nazi. Lost Company was made in 2010 and runs perfectly in Wine on PlayOnLinux. I didn't have any issues installing, configuring or playing as you can see in the video. It is a bit dated when compared to more recent FPS, but still fun and intense!

Unfortunately the DirectX 10 features do not run in Wine, but there is a workaround to force DirectX 9

Strange Brigade is a 3rd person action game that places you in a 1930's Indiana Jones in the middle of Egypt. I knew Strange Brigade existed but didn't give it a second thought because of the price. Then one day during a Steam sale I stumbled across it for $5.00 and couldn't miss this chance. Bought two copies and have been playing co-op with my daughter. Proton handles it perfectly on my GeForce GTX 1060, but my daughters machine had some random crashes with her GeForce GTX 950. For me the game runs really smooth but there is also this strange audio syncing where I can hear the sound, voices and music from...

Driver: Parallel Lines is a GTA inspired roam-the-streets sandbox action game. Like the original Driver games, you will be driving the cities avoiding police and accomplishing tasks or missions. But like GTA, you can exit the vehicle and roam the city and steal whatever car you want. I love all the classic cars from the 1970s and character clothing styles. Even the city had a vintage look and ambiance to it.

Driver runs fairly well in Wine, but there is a bit of stutter as it loads the distant city lines. I was able to use my Logitech MOMO racing steering wheel with force feedback. It handles nicely, but the buttons are a bit confusion to program in the game. Obviously this is not a simulation game, so I dealt with the settings and had fun roaming New York in the 1970s. Metallic Child demo is a 3rd person melee action game where you play as a human controlling a mysterious space station battle robot: Rona

At first glance she appears to be an innocent child-like robot, but beneath the skin she packs-a-punch!

The demo on steam is basically an introduction and tutorial to the game. Proton handles it just fine and I was able to play through the entire demo. Once you learn the basics, this is a fast moving action game with a lot of variety and upgrades.

Double Fine Productions was happy to produce a native Linux version for us and it runs beautifully! My aging GeForce GTX 1060 handles it just fine! A little stutter here and there, but other than that Brutal Legend runs GREAT! And its a lot of fun! Takes me back to grade school where I first heard Anthrax and Metallica...

Proton was able to handle Monster Hunter Rise demo very well. I left all the settings on normal which included HD textures and most settings on high. The Survivalists demo is top-down retro survival game on a mysterious island. You are shipwrecked and alone, but you meet a trusty monkey to help you gather, harvest and craft the resources you need to survive. Night-time bring creatures out of the dark and exploring the island can be treacherous with natives and caves. No matter... still lots to do and lots of crafting to be done.

Proton as able to handle the demo without issues! The game played perfectly and is quite fun. You can train your monkey to gather and harvest for you. Keep an eye on your hunger and explore as much as you can. There is even a hosting option to invite your friend, but I haven't tried it yet.

I'm currently playing the original vanilla Skyrim with the enhanced textures. With my GeForce GTX 1060 I can crank up all the textures to ultra and all the distances to maximum. Triple Hell is a horror puzzle game where you have to avoid a crazy giant maniac with a red lantern. You have to hurry as he is roaming the asylum and if he see's you its almost impossible to escape. Find the items you need to leave the asylum or die trying.

Ryse: Son Of Rome is a 3rd person action game about the story of Marius Titus who almost single-handed saves the Roman Empire from the Celtic Barbarians. Abriss demo is all about destruction! It kinda reminds me of the Matrix where the robots have taken over and protect their nests. In Abriss you can construct all kinds of apparatus's for demolishing these robot breeding grounds. The demo includes multiple levels and a sandbox mode where you create your own hybrid with lasers, gears and all kinds of smashing structures.

Everything is physics based and it is a lot of fun watching epic structures go down in misery!

The Creation is an indie FPS with horror, fantasy and sci-fi elements. Begin exploring a forest after your car has broken down on the highway when you arrive at a mysterious church.
