I lived in Lemon Grove, "THEY" lived in Logan Heights. Maybe 5 or 6 miles apart, but we never saw each other, never played together. This troubled me greatly as a child.
When this song came out I felt as if the Vail had parted and I saw the pain and sorrow my neighbors had to endure. My colored neighbors had to endure.

Steve Marriott was a greatly underrated singer. I've always liked him, especially with Humble Pie.
Humble Pie was also the band that made Peter Frampton famous.
Steve Marriott died in a house fire, at 44, when he came home stone drunk one night and smoked in bed.
