We truly are,for the most part, ships passing in the night, out upon an ocean to deep to ponder.
Sailing low in a sky that reaches from the deep to scatter the clouds above.
We see each others lights in our passing and cut each others wakes as we sail on.
None can abandon their vessel, not even for a visit
and the tides that brought us together soon, to soon, part us.
When my ship sinks you will not be able to save me as you sail on.
Yet were it not for your lights bow and stern
I would know only darkness and the deep.
That you too sail these seas makes of me a secret I no longer wish to keep.
But we must follow our charted course, must follow the star we were given.
If there are any heavens that we are to know, we will only know each other...there.
