Portal Revolution ran perfectly in Linux as a stand alone Linux native game. I never had any performance issues or crashes... it was extremely fun and only a few puzzles required searching online for a solution. I love the bot voice-overs and the new character plots. I can't believe Valve has not created a new Portal with some of these new laser and Pneumatic vent features! Thank you Portal community!

Blizzard finally created a free-to-play MMO for Diablo! Currently in Beta, join your friends and live the story between Diablo II and III. Choose a deadly male or female class:

I was able to install Battle.net in PlayOnLinux with ProtonGE8 and run Diablo Immortal. Honestly it will require some patience because of the random crashing. I was unable to run the game on any other version of Proton. The game will consistently crash at start up, but don't give up, just use the System Monitor to kill DiabloImmortal.exe and then launch again. If that doesn't work, just kill all processes in PlayOnLinux and run it again.

Valheim has sold millions of copies with millions of players exploring the massive map, creating Viking cities, slaying monsters, collecting loot and crafting gear. But where did it all start? The free-to-play beta of course!


Sadly I've had a hard time tracking down a download for Valheim Linux beta. I've kept it from years ago and it still runs pretty well and is still a lot of LAN co-op fun! If you still don't want to spend money on Valheim and want to play with limited features, give it a go, but have fun finding an installer.

Every once in a while there is a slight performance stutter. Part of it is the automatic save, but the other part may just be optimization issues. Either way, a lot of fun!

Path of Exile is a free-to-play action RPG with large maps, dungeons, tons of loot, bosses, skill tree and all kinds of upgrades! Pick your class, join up with friends and slay minions, mini-bosses in creepy super detailed worlds! This game is worth it! The monsters are very creepy and smart. They sometimes run away and find cover, other powered-up monsters are almost impossible to kill. Use your skill gems and load up and armor/damage to take them out!


Once again it was time to re-visit Path of Exile and play co-op with my family. Initially I tried through Steam but for some reason I was having all kinds of problems. So naturally I went to PlayOnLinux and used ProtonEXP and installed the client. No issues or performance problems these days and it is a lot of fun with my family!

Unreal Tournament 4 has been on hold for a long time as Epic develops other games. Thanks to the Linux community there are some dedicated developers who have made Unreal 4 available for us to play again!

Following the instructions in the reddit post, I was able to download, install, launch and sign in. Then I could play my own singleplayer training maps or local LAN maps. Thank you for including LAN!!!

I noticed some serous stutter or lag when initially playing. This must be some caching issue with Linux, Vulkan or OpenGL. Not really sure, but it sure is annoying during the first match. Once the issues are loaded up, then it plays just fine afterwards!

Made with the Unity 3D engine, I didn't experience any issues in Linux. Playstation 1 games have extremely low requirements so performance was spectacular as expected. I loved all the interactive objects, lighting effects and spooky sounds. Makes me want to play the original Amnesia all over again.

I never played the original Bloodborn on the Playstation, but this game reminds me of Dark Souls soooo much! The movement, the backgrounds and even the sound effects are just like Dark Souls!

I was unable to play this game on stable versions of Wine because of dependencies needed for Unreal Engine.
But I quickly found that staging versions are able to run it almost perfectly! There are some staticy sound artifacts which I tried to fix by installing xact and Direct X June 2010, but it didn't help. So I just dealt with it...

Dungeon Hunter 5 has a Diablo meets Torchlight feel and graphical style. The only downside is the levels are very small and completed very quickly. I could only play using Proton 6.3. None of the other versions of Proton or GE worked... the game would time-out with internet connectivity at the beginning.

Island Saver is a free-to-play first person clean-up game where you are saving the island from litter bugs who want to pollute it. Wield your Trash Blaster and suck washed up plastic and recycle it. Eternal Evil is a first person survival shooter made by one person. This is no run-n-gun shooter but instead more of a survival horror with story, weapons and puzzles. Each level is very small but packed with zombies and detail. Finding weapons, ammo and health is no easy task when zombies are clawing at your back. Each zombie walks, moves and attacks with physics instead of animation. They crawl on the ground, bump into objects and smack other zombies. Be careful, if they feed on you they become powerful and almost impossible to kill. Even objects in buildings are completely interactive with physics. Use books or chairs to slow down zombies.

LET IT DIE is a free to play 3rd person action survival game with a tournament style game-play. Select a male or female clone and climb the tower by slaying robots, clones and looting their corpse for gear. Eat and store frogs, mushrooms and other stuff to power up or poison yourself. This is a single-player game but almost seems like a multi-player game because you will fight against your previous characters that died.

Apparently this is a survival game but I didn't see very many survival needs... no hunger, water, sleep, or crafting. There is weapon crafting in the lobby and you can customize your characters, but it seems when you die the next start is with a brand new clone with nothing but underwear. Also, most of the levels are flat, so it doesn't really feel like you are climbing a tower until you get to the ladder at the end.

At first glance she appears to be an innocent child-like robot, but beneath the skin she packs-a-punch!

The demo on steam is basically an introduction and tutorial to the game. Proton handles it just fine and I was able to play through the entire demo. Once you learn the basics, this is a fast moving action game with a lot of variety and upgrades.

Select a class like an axe, sword wielding character or a gun slaying character and many more... then ride your wolf around the massive map searching for elements to craft traps and poisons. Proton was able to handle Monster Hunter Rise demo very well. I left all the settings on normal which included HD textures and most settings on high. The Survivalists demo is top-down retro survival game on a mysterious island. You are shipwrecked and alone, but you meet a trusty monkey to help you gather, harvest and craft the resources you need to survive. Night-time bring creatures out of the dark and exploring the island can be treacherous with natives and caves. No matter... still lots to do and lots of crafting to be done.

Proton as able to handle the demo without issues! The game played perfectly and is quite fun. You can train your monkey to gather and harvest for you. Keep an eye on your hunger and explore as much as you can. There is even a hosting option to invite your friend, but I haven't tried it yet.

Triple Hell is a horror puzzle game where you have to avoid a crazy giant maniac with a red lantern. You have to hurry as he is roaming the asylum and if he see's you its almost impossible to escape. Find the items you need to leave the asylum or die trying.

Abriss demo is all about destruction! It kinda reminds me of the Matrix where the robots have taken over and protect their nests. In Abriss you can construct all kinds of apparatus's for demolishing these robot breeding grounds. The demo includes multiple levels and a sandbox mode where you create your own hybrid with lasers, gears and all kinds of smashing structures.

Everything is physics based and it is a lot of fun watching epic structures go down in misery!

You Suck At Parking is a clever driving puzzle game where you have to overcome obstacles in order to park your vehicles. Sound simple? No... its not! You Suck At Parking demo runs fine in Proton until you load the menu or another level. Its seriously an issue with Proton and Unity 3D or Unreal Engine games.
