Hogwarts Legacy in Proton

The one and only Harry Potter game that has EVERYTHING! Except Harry Potter of course...
Explore the epic halls of Hogwarts, solve puzzles, attend classes, learn spells, interact with other students... the game seems endless.
Hogwarts Legacy is an open world 3rd person adventure with all kinds of features that most games never boast and its all there. All the magic, exploration, flying, potions, animals, enemies and much much more. The main storyline campaign is interesting, full of mystery, fantastic characters and plot.

The first issue you will notice in Linux is a very very long black screen loading before the menu. I've researched and found this happens on consoles and Windows. I'm not sure why it happens but it can literally take 20 minutes. Honestly its worth it! This game is SO MUCH FUN! I can't believe all the interactive elements and action. You really get to fly which is something I've wanted since Skyrim! There are some other...

Sable is a nonviolent open world 3rd person exploration and adventure game. Discover the remnants of an ancient civilization with advanced technology on your hover bike roaming the world. Interact with characters and puzzles and unfold an epic story!

Before I gave Sable a "go" I did some research on protondb first. There were many reports of stuttery, lagging frame rates when exploring on the hover bike and I can confirm they are correct. The stutters were not horribly bad or unplayable, but I definitely noticed them. I really enjoy some of Sable's abilities like slowly hovering down in the orb or riding in the hover bike crashing into things.

ABZU is a lowpoly toonshaded underwater puzzle adventure and educational experience. Swim with all kinds of underwater fish and creatures meanwhile learn who you are and where you came from. Expect a cinematic graphical extravaganza with amazing lighting and colorful underwater visuals!

About 5 years ago I tested ABZU in PlayOnLinux with Wine.
http://www.gamersonlinux.com/forum/threads/abzu-installation-test.2457/
After many failures attempting everything I knew how to do... I gave up.
But recently I noticed the protondb reports for ABZU were positive and "running out-of-the-box"
I remembered that I picked up ABZU for free on Epic Games and thought I should give it a try... Success!
Proton handled everything and didn't require any hacks or workarounds. This is amazing!

Beautiful Desolation is a top-down adventure game with no combat inspired by nostalgic games like Sanitarium. You are teleported to the future into an apocalypse! What happened and how did this happen? Explore detailed pre-rendered desolate landscapes! Interact with interesting characters with clever dialog and optional conversation paths.

The Brotherhood was kind enough to provide us with a native Linux port and it runs beautifully in 1920x1080 resolution. This isn't an open world game, it is very restrictive and linear, but still a lot to explore.

One True Hero is developed by a single person and has many polished features of an epic indie game. I was able to play in Proton without any issues. I reached out to the developer on reddit with hopes of a native port, but its hard enough to develop a Windows port in Unity by yourself. There may be a chance of a native port in the future, but until then, enjoy the free demo with Proton.

Find Yourself is a haunting horror game where you re-live terrifying experience with your demonic mother. Try to escape from a haunted subway and shoot into horrifying memories when you were a kid stuck in the basement, hiding in your room, or discovering the bodies...

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1504740/Find_Yourself/

It may seem like a dream, but is it?

Initially I was testing the itch.io version of Find Yourself and was unable to extract the download. Tried several times on several computers and it was always corrupted... but the developer was happy to give me a Steam key and I was able to play through on Steam. From time to time I was experiencing frame rate issues at random. I found if the game started slowing down or getting choppy, just close the game and re-open. After that it would run fine for a while. I have a feeling Unreal Engine has some kind of memory leak causing this problem. Other than that it ran fine and was a pretty long horror...

Escape Ayuwoki is a first person stealth horror game where your goal is to find your way out of the house without Ayuwoki finding you. This game is full of suspenseful moments of absolute terror! The monster is extremely sensitive to movement, sound and light. There are very limited areas you can go in order to traverse throughout the house, so take your time and investigate each area before moving ahead. If she catches you, then you have to start over.

The key to this game is to learn where you can hide and where you can't. The developer has done an amazing job creating hiding places in the game. You can use your flashlight to see if there is room under a table, behind a chair or under stairs. You will find that your character can actually fit into tight spaces. This is a unique feature because Ayuwoki will be moving quickly around the house looking for you. Your only warning is...

After finishing Layers Of Fear 1, I wanted more... more jump scares, more super detailed environments, more psychological fear, more creepy sounds... more of everything! Layers Of Fear 2 does not disappoint!

Your nightmare begins on an old 1920s cruise ship where there is a film production taking place. Among the ship is all kinds of props and scenery for the film... but what is the film about? Are you an actor? The game quickly becomes very creepy as you re-live the adventures of stowaway children... a young girl and her brother.

You will find yourself exploring some surreal environments that are pretty strange, but compellingly scary. This might actually be a nightmare of a small boys imagination.
