Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

I had a thing for pocket watches in third grade. For some reason I could not stop myself from over winding them. Broke a half dozen..at $3,50 each..for just one watch! same as mine but lacked over winding.I gave up on time keeping...true story.":O)

So you were a watch aficionado too. Amazing, you can't over wind a decent watch, but maybe it was the shiny that fascinated you? Bought six of them at a price that was a fortune for young you. "If you had invested that money wisely," don't you just LOVE that phrase?

Third Grade. Where did I live while in the third grade? Honestly can't remember. I think I was in the fourth grade when my dad or grandmother gave me a Mickey Mouse watch for my birthday. Lost it within days.
When I get extra depressed I become fascinated by watches. Not a good sign!

Poor Dan Aykroyd is a gifted comic actor and I love the guy. But he can't sing one note to save his life. Perhaps he was unaware how ridiculous his harmonica playing next to John Popper was. He played the "harp" a lot in the original Blues Brothers movie. And was pretty good at it.

Personally I think Dan held his own rather well.

no one was ever sneered at for losing to Jessy Owens. They were praised just for earning the right to race against him. I didn't at all feel that Dan's presence lessened the quality of the over all performance.

PS. This wasn't a singing contest. Seems unfair to judge what isn't present.

As a Foot note... Harmonica was dead and Harmony was about to go under...Then Bob Dylan picked up a Harmonica.. and on his death bed in a hospital Woody Guthery showed Bob it's in's and outs. bob visited Woody every day until his passing.

We all owe a debt to the past.

OH! OH! I feel another quote coming on!!

"Evey lie owes a debt to truth, a debt that must be paid!"

Actually it was a hold over from a summer visit to New Mexico.
Grand pa was a railroad man! He put repair carts on and off the tracks so the repairs had to be done and the Cart had to be off track. when big thunder came barreling through....or ELSE!!!!

All railroad men of his day had accurate and rather fancy pocket watches.
For all his kindness to me he was unable to teach my 6 year old self to tell time.

It saddened us both, but he stood by me even in my ineptitude
And if $3.50 isn't a good watch I don't want to know what is!! LOL.

Here Janis turns away from a strictly material existence she finds herself surrounded by in order to seek favor in heavens. This is her impassioned plea, may it not go unheard!

Nothing like adding some romance to a story, well done. Think of parents only having digital clocks around the house. I have dyslexia with clock and watch faces. Is it Nine o'clock or Three o'clock?

This looks to be of interest:

Scots-Irish doesn't mean Scots and Irish. It specifically means the Scots who came to Ireland at the behest of the British Crown to aid in the subjugation of the Irish. Have both Scottish plus Irish in my bloodline. As a supporter of the underdog I resent the Orangemen but I dislike the Catholicism of the Irish.

I didn't know this until not many years ago.

This is an instructive video, thank you very much.

Gospel has always been bearer of gifts for me.
dispelling the gloom and letting in the light. None more so than this one.

If you get lost out there on the road this could be a map to take you home.

WOW!
I just watched this, a whole big bunch of information about each and all three.
At least a half dozen good quotes for my collection!

Almost nothing is as I had imagined. I give this one three stars (pun intended)

Thank you very much Dan, this is most instructional. I don't know why, but Dolly Parton has always seemed to me far too big to be real. The Trio LP's should be better considering the hugeness of the artists. But don't ask me, I'm opinionated. After listening to some of the "Trio" material afresh---it sounds fantastic.

"Ronstadt" seems to be anything but a Spanish name I thought. Yet "Canciones por mi Padre" is as pleasantly Mexican as you can get. And a real accomplishment, imho. Linda sings superbly on this one. I didn't know that Ms Ronstadt was afflicted with Parkinson's. Poor lady. My last stepmother was punished with it, it causes a lot of suffering.

Again, it takes the BBC to tell it like it was in America.

I watched this yesterday with Patti. I kept saying somethings off with Linda. She speaks without facial effect.
She's completely deadpan but completely coherent and Persis, Then we got the news.

To have had such a voice to have brought that voice to a kind of perfection and then lose it, most unkind.
Her friends weep with her. They can no longer sing with her when her whole life was song.

Early on...

Yesterday's Papers
The Rolling Stones
Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world
After this time I finally learned
After the pain and hurt
After all this what have I achieved
I've realized it's time to leave
Cause
Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world
Living a life of constant change
Every day means the turn of a page
Yesterdays papers are such bad news
Same thing applies to me and you
Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world
Seems very hard to have just one girl
When there's a million in the world
All of these people just can't wait
To fall right into their big mistake
Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world

Ruby Tuesday
The Rolling Stones
She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows, she comes and goes
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you
Don't question why she needs to be so free
She'll tell you it's the only way to be
She just can't be chained
To a life where nothing's gained
Or nothing's lost, at such a cost
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you
"There's no time to lose, " I heard her say
Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time
Lose your dreams and you will lose your mind
Ain't life unkind?
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you

Honky Tonk Women
The Rolling Stones
I met a gin-soaked, bar-room queen in Memphis
She tried to take me upstairs for a ride
She had to heave me right across shoulder
'Cause I just can't seem to drink you off my mind
It's the honky tonk women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues
I laid a divorcée in New York City
I had to put up some kind of a fight
The lady then she covered me with roses
She blew my nose and then she blew my mind
It's the honky tonk women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues
It's the honky tonk women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues
