Ah! But some of the lovely people using them...I need a drink, I need to cool off!! LOLCastanets are curious little rhythmic devices, aren't they?

Try to console yourself with this thought. We take our music with us when we go.Add to my comments above - the musicians of our generation, the singer-songwriters and performers of the late 1960's into the 1970's, are a rare and unique group. The planets were aligned in just the right way for the massive talents of those people to develop.
We are seeing them pass on now; all in their 60's and 70's. But think of the legacy they have left. All these guys and gals are going to be gone soon. The Beatles and the Stones are just the beginning. Some have been lucky to live so long; James Taylor comes to mind. Others not so lucky, like Warren Zevon and Lowell George, who were incredibly talented.
Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Eric Clapton, Jimi, Jim Morrison, Joan Armatrading, Joe Jackson, Richie Havens, Syd Barrett, Bob Dylan, all the CSNY boys, Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot, Van Morrison, Phil Lynott, David Bowie, Ray Davies, David Gilmour, Donovan, Duane and Gregg Allman, Justin Hayward, Glen Campbell, Roberta Flack, Kris Kristofferson, Marvin Gaye, Allen Toussaint, Walter Becker, Donald Fagen, Harry Nilsson, Elton John, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, Spencer Davis, Leon Russell, Tom Waits, Billy Joel, Don Henley and Glen Frey, John Mayall, Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson, Jimmy Webb, Sly Stone, John Fogerty, Al Green, Jerry Garcia, Rory Gallagher, Pete Townshend, Bruce Springsteen, James Brown, Randy Newman, Lou Reed, Elvis Costello, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Prince, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Carole King, Jim Croce, Bonnie Raitt, Harry Chapin, Willy DeVille, Frank Zappa, Patti Smith, Ian Anderson, Laura Nyro, Don McLean, Tim Hardin, Emmylou Harris, Andy Powell, John Fogerty, Steve Marriott, Gerry Rafferty, Gary Moore, Richard Thompson, Cat Stevens, Sandy Denny, Jeff Beck, Roger Waters, Michael Stanley...I could go on and on. Add to this list all the names of the blues greats that have passed on, too numerous to mention. We're lucky to still have some of the greats around, like Buddy Guy and Lonnie Brooks.
Just reflect for a minute this *extremely* incomplete list of performers and writers of this era; some already departed. Reflect on the huge body of work these people have left us. It will forever be unequaled, because the planets will never be aligned in the same way again.
And they all will be gone, not long from now. Music will never be the same.
Yeah George you owe us a story!
Here's my twist on a popular song, "Everything is beautiful in it's own way."
Made me throw up in the back of my mouth.
So....
"Everything is puke and bull it just gets in the way."
is all I remember. but I'm still glad I did it! LOL

Try to console yourself with this thought. We take our music with us when we go.
We bring it with us when we come and it follows along with us when we go.
Only the very best do we bequeath to the those who follow after us.
I don't know about you but I'm not giving up my collection just to get in some 'ol heaven!
Function junktion misfired, another good song gone
"It gots the stutters I tells ya!
Spanish ladies in spiked heels whirling like dervishes straight backed and filled with the grace of movement.I had a secret crush on a woman I used to sing with locally. Our teacher(the Lord bless her and save her from anything bad. She was and I hope is an overwhelmingly fantastic music teacher) used to hand her simple percussive rhythm instruments casually as we sang. She played them all flawlessly. Including castanets, so they hold a special place for me.
Needless to say I've wondered what going on. When they play they play beautifully. when they don't there doesn't seem to be anything you can do about this. Have we an avid explorer among us?Perhaps, just perhaps the freshest distro from Mint doesn't handle music videos all that well? The barest possibility, naturally. Perish the thought!

Will this ever be as old as I am, I think not. ":O}
I may have already Bopped you...but just in case
There was a time in Lemon Grove when if you asked any one under 4 ft tall what they wanted they would break into this song.
"Oh baby you know what I like"
I thought it was a scream and enjoyed seeing all the different revisions.
I of course was over 5 ft tall at the time.":O}
We are in the hands of fate, so why...

I vaguely remember something about them having a fling, but I have no details.Another repost. Mr Knopfler's own version of this song is quite beautiful, btw. You can't really judge from videos, but it looked like Mark Knopfler may have developed a "thing" for Ms Harris (who in their right mind wouldn't, I ask you?) when they worked together. Emmylou firmly discouraged this. Oh, the pain.
No need to go back, Mint will catch up."![]()
