Same for me as well. I have 6 Desktops and most of the make a LOT of noise because of fans. It doesn't bother me anymore because they are in my office and I mostly play games. Turn up the game and you won't hear anything. I don't overclock either. Never have. Todays CPU's are so advanced that they can throttle themselves depending on the need. You should be able to adjust how much it throttles, but it depends on what you are doing.
Wowsa six desktops running at once? Dang booman, you are a true enthusiast! Aw heyeck, you've always been a true fanatic Daniel~! The charge for building my box was $60. However, two components magically gained ~$100 each between my list and the final price. These plus the Asus ~$270 27" monitor (which is LCD--this I like because LED screens CAN burn in if given long enough time on a single pic) made the final price, including our state's outrageously regressive sales tax of about 9.9% $1697.00. My last machine, a Lenovo was $1300. The price of progress plus more memory, a far better Vidcard and a huge new monitor--it will always be freakin' something! Freedom from the evil empire Bill built? Priceless!
Yeah, I've been hosting LAN parties for years now. 6 computers is a lot to manage, but its fun to invite friends over to play co-op games for free. Otherwise we would be going to Howies Gameshack every month spending money to play games. It has really paid off because all those games I've purchased in the past are now becoming guides for Linux Gaming
The mark of the true blue Linux gamer, you go booman! It's very kind of you to let your friends avoid the ka-ching at Howie's Gameshack! If Bill is so bad why is he rich beyond Croesus? In the case of Mr Burns of The Simpsons the good man lives at the corner of Croesus and Mammon. Oh slow me Daniel~, your LOL is now understood.
George, You can 'watch' a thread, by selecting the 'Watch Thread' option from the top right of this page: Once you have marked the thread for watching, you can then get the list of all watched threads from the top menu pretty much anywhere in the forums: That will keep you from losing track of your threads, I think.
Yup, you're already watching the thread, so you should be able to find it in your list of watched threads any time you like.
Read this thread from last September to last Monday to get a better sense of... maybe bearings is the right word. I must say that the folks here are far above average in being very helpful and very, very nice. I'm lucky to be able to know you folks!
