This is cool, Tom Scholz of Boston talking about how he developed modern amplification and effects gear for rock music. Truly a humble, gentle guy, with no airs about him:

Thank you for finding this ThunderRD, it's a must not miss contribution!!

Tom Scholz is a bonafide no holds barred genius. "More Than a Feeling" will stand the rigor of time for centuries, if we're lucky enough to have them. And he played bass on the "Boston" LP as well, ttbmk. His bass playing is beyond superb.

    Musical hero? Ooh yes!

Rick's videos are pretty good, most of the time. This one is one of the good ones, can't find anything I don't agree with :)

Tom was great at layering the sound; he could play everything, so he could do exactly what he wanted to :) The best thing is he did all of this in his own basement, lolz, with his own hand-built equipment. Amazing for its time.

This is one of my favorite Beato videos, with guitar genius Larry Carlton, who is unsurpassed. See what you think, George:

and this, which breaks down one of the greatest guitar solos EVER, in Steely Dan's 'Kid Charlemagne'; played by Larry Carlton. An amazing piece of guitar work:

It's fantastic to know that learning about music isn't taboo here at GOL! I'll watch the Larry Carlton and Steely Dan videos, thank you for suggesting them!

More from Rick Beato on "More Than a Feeling," if you are interested...

I was very unsophisticated about popular music in the later Seventies. My pot addled brain got Boston but I didn't understand Steely Dan's work. My shame is great, Steely Dan were really good and I didn't get that until years later. "Kid Charlemagne" is a fave of the friend I met in a music class at Seattle Community College in the early Ninety's. Better late than never!

Larry Carlton is an amazing and very sophisticated guitar player. I knew his name but barely. Looks like I need a lot more musical education, thank you for posting these two videos, TR!!

It makes me happy just knowing there is a place like this where voices gather and music is played.
