Wine DXVK - The Future with Vulkan

I've already seen some very impressive video's on Youtube using Wine and Vulan capabilities. This is a very good move... just check out some of these Direct X 11 games running smoothly.

Install DXVK in PlayOnLinux Guide

by the way, I'm playing Watch Dogs (Uplay) in PlayOnLinux now!
Will be making a video and posting it soon.
Runs beautifully!

Sounds exciting about Watch Dogs, and I've just got Witcher 3 running perfectly, somehow, lol ... am not tech and therefore very glad of POL and your guides, but have got lucky, with a little bit of reading and just trying out something, on top of what is already installed in main system.

ALREADY INSTALLED

sudo apt-key add Release.key

deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian/ stretch main
(ADD THIS TO root/etc/apt/sources.list)

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install winehq-staging

winetricks vcrun6sp6 (already installed for art program ... don't know if this helped about Witcher3)

INSTALL
=====

GOG Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY

win8.1
64bit

dx9/10/11
all vcredists bar 2005 (find this hangs occasionally)

dxvk 0.7; 5 32bit files into syswow64, 5 64bit files into system32.
searched about dxvk settings and found lutris info: https://lutris.net/games/install/5770/view ...
configure wine/libraries ... xaudio2_7: native, builtin (in top dropdown menu) and just chose highest option in lower dropdown menu: d3dx11_43 (native, builtin)

read that setting any other ambient occlusion than None will freeze the game. turned this off incase, before began game proper.

Thanks to your tutorials, I knew to try the various dx and redists, and understood how to apply dxvk. Lucky to find the lutris dxvk info, and that so much was already installed within Neptune, plus hardware certainly likes Witcher3. Happy playing!

Awesome Gamesrule!
I'm so glad we could help you run AAA games in PlayOnLinux.
We will continue to post game guides as long as PlayOnLinux still works. Even if it is unsupported.
Feel free to post questions or solutions in the forum.
We love to hear from Linux gamers!

Thanks Booman! I was thrilled when coming over to Linux to find your site and POL, and GOG also, but your guides have enabled me the best. I'd thought I'd need to use the ipad and old playstation when I made the leap, and am so glad to be able to run games independently. Thank you so much about continuing guides.

PS I'm trying to sort a video of Witcher 3; if I manage, I'll tag it into post.
