Some stuff I stumbled across:
John Clayton: Walking Base
Pavarotti has got an AMAZING voice, and Eric Clapton is also fine singer in his own right, but their voices just don't blend well, IMO, which is a real shame. I think that fact is the reason they don't sing much harmony in this song, which again is a real shame, IMO.for me this is singular, it stands alone,
it helps to reshape me .
It compartments my prayer that I should be made worthy
by grace I could never earn.
The song "Holy Mother" was written by Eric Clapton, with assistance from songwriter Stephen Bishop
ok that's all undebatably true.Pavarotti has got an AMAZING voice, and Eric Clapton is also fine singer in his own right, but their voices just don't blend well, IMO, which is a real shame. I think that fact is the reason they don't sing much harmony in this song, which again is a real shame, IMO.
Fair enough, I was evaluating it by different criteria than you. I was evaluating it as a piece of music, and judging it solely for its musical qualities. Insofar as "musical qualities" is already a very subjective matter, there's plenty of room for disagreement.ok that's all undebatably true.
but do they need to?
if this is as much a prayer as it is a song
then Mother Mary must hear this plea
with very different ears than you and I
and it is Mary that they are addressing themselves to.
it is in the addressing that i find so much beauty.
they speak of our deepest need.
truth is I'm a bit mesmerized by each in turn
each heart opening to confess to a drowning need of a life line.
each a shining light in our world
each calling out in the darkness
im not trying to say you should like it more or differently
only why I do. ';o)
