Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Big trouble!
Century link has gone to shit again
internet is almost completely useless

We are trying to setup a phone connect but it looks pretty hopless as well
Patty is going into town to the phone store to see if anything can be done

Getting this far has taken over an hour.
I'll stat in touch as best as I am able

in the mean time I offer you this

Sorry to hear about your Centurylink troubles.

Given where you are, Cellular is unlikely to be better, and probably worse.

My best guess that you are near Greenwater, and there are only two T-Mobile cell sites around there; one is about 5 Km to the southeast, the other is about 10 Km to the northwest. Based on the terrain, I'm guessing they're on top or near the top of local mountain peaks.

The good news is that they have 5G service available. The bad news is that at that range you're likely going to be on the 600 Mhz n71 band; I'm not sure the 1.9 Gz n25 band will reach you. 600 Mhz will likely get you 10 Mb/s on a good day, as long as you aren't fighting anyone else for it.

I don't know about the Verizon and AT&T sites, but I doubt they are any better.

many thanks Chris.

we are looking at nomad internet which looks to be a signal booster.Would love to have any input on it you may have.

First, am I right about your location? Are you near Greenwater? Knowing the correct location makes a LOT of difference if the type of signal you can expect to receive.

Second, Nomad is just a reseller of wireless service; they are an MVNO (multi vendor network operator). They aren't selling anything you can't get directly from the carrier. The only thing they offer is that if you are regularly traveling (a nomad) then they will automatically provide you service from the best network that they have an agreement with, regardless of who that may be (AT&T, TMO, Verizon, US Cellular, etc.).

Third, be aware that NO wireless provider will guarantee a speed to your location, and anyone that does, you should RUN FROM. They will emphasize that they will provides speeds UP TO their maximum throughput, but without a site survey they can't really say what you can actually expect, and site surveys are expensive.

Fourth, the available speed that you can get will depend on your location relative to the tower; the farther from the tower you are, the slower the speed. The more 'noisy' you local radio environment is, the lower the speed. The more obstacles that are between you and the line-of-site to the tower, the lower the speed. As I said previously, for where you are, on TMO's network, I would expect around 10 Mb/s, optimistically.

Fifth, with respect to Nomad SPECIFICALLY, they apparently went through some shenanigans late last year. Based on what I'm reading, I wouldn't trust them, but what I'm reading is over a year old.

If you know someone there who already has cellular service, they can go to speedtest.net and run a speed test to see what kind of performance they are ACTUALLY getting, and that can give you some idea of what to expect.

How do you feel about classical music? Country? (My musical tastes go all over the place, as you can tell. ;) )

Here's something from Thomas Bergerssen in a classical vein, although even his music runs through a gamut of styles:

A Capella vocals (no accompaniment). Geoff Castellucci is a really talented singer, one of the few folks I can listen to that is actually in my vocal range:

Last nigh it became totally unusable.

then this morning it worked perfectly
I'm not at all sure of my location
(Thank you Dyslexia)

So I maybe fine using the phone as a hot spot.

IIll try to get location from
Patti.tomorrow. Again thank you
