Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

As the south refused to surrender
General Grant ordered Gen, Sherman to "Obtain their surrender at any and all costs".
Sherman cut and burned a path 50 miles wide all the way across Georgia.. He left not so much as as outhouse standing everything was burnt to the ground. He then pivoted his army was was about to cut a second path when the South Surrender forever ending slavery inn America.
Mat God bless Generals Sherman and Grant forever breakers of chains.

That said, what a song! ":O)

It is a great song. The problem is that the Fourteenth Amendment has not been accepted as settled law in The USA. The forces of darkness are STILL fighting it tooth and nail. Jim Crow II is alive and kicking.

What me political?

If this doesn't make you weep you not Irish!. Possibly not human.LOL

Think of beautifully hand carved book ends, One placed at each end of everything you've ever held dear. This is at other end of what Van created":O}

By golly I am partly Irish. This artist is new to me. And a knockout. Must life be so durned easy on the eyes at times?

Emmylou singing a Bob Dylan tune, so like the words carry meaning.":O}

Lyrics
In the time of my confession
In the hour of my deepest need
When the pool of tears beneath my feet
Flood every newborn seed
There's a dyin' voice within me
Reaching out somewhere
Toiling in the danger
And in the morals of despair
Don't have the inclination
To look back on any mistake
Like Cain I now behold
This chain of events that I must break
In the fury of the moment
I can see the Master's hand
In every leaf that trembles
And in every grain of sand
Oh, the flowers of indulgence
And the weeds of yesteryear
Like criminals they have choked the breath
Of conscience and good cheer
The sun beat down upon the steps
Of time to light the way
To ease the pain of idleness
And the memory of decay
I gaze into the doorway
Of temptation's angry flame
And every time I pass that way
I always hear my name
Then onward in my journey
I come to understand
That every hair is numbered
Like every grain of sand
I have gone from rags to riches
In the sorrow of the night
In the violence of a summer's dream
In the chill of a wintry light
In the bitter dance of loneliness
Fading into space
In the broken mirror of innocence
On each forgotten face
I hear the ancient footsteps
Like the motion of the sea
Sometimes I turn
There's someone there
Other times it's only me
I am hanging in the balance
Of a perfect finished plan
Like every sparrow falling
Like every grain of sand

These are seriously brilliant lyrics. Oh to write so stunningly well.

Janis Joplin with Full Tilt Boogie Half Moon

I mis-remember this song as being a good deal slower in tempo. Which made it much better. Sigh.
