Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

What Makes This Song Great Ep28 "Lets Dance" David Bowie

Like this song a lot. Loved the original video, too. GF liked it a lot, too. 38 years ago? Tain't right, I tells ya.

Thanks for posting this.I remember the original release, those guitar "stabs" by Steve Cropper made all the difference in the world. And Donald "Duck" Dunn's bass playing obviated the need for Mr Washington to have to use bass pedals.
Ahh, yes. And those guys were the mainstays of the Blues Brothers, too!

But who's Mr Washington, I don't know who you mean?

EDITEDITEDIT:
AACKKKK...I just figured out what you mean, but it's Booker T. Jones, not Washington ;)

B.T.W. was the black scholar that wrote Up From Slavery, etc, [I don't think he played the Hammond, lolz]

Wrong again. But that's unpossible!

GEORGE: IMPORTANT

You should watch this in its entirety:

Maybe the real horror is that up to date music can.... what's the word? SUCK. Ever since artists discovered that Autotune can fix their clams---thus encouraging embellishing hops up and down the chromatic scale for no good reason (imho) except to isspay me offpay...

You're right this is an important post from Rick. He does so much good work on our behalf...

Tower Of Power The Skunk, The Goose, And The Fly

Please listen to the bass. Finger Style Funk is a bear to play, Francis Rocco Prestia was a master of it. He passed a couple of years ago. I sincerely doubt we'll ever hear anyone as great again.

Rocco Prestia A Short Little Video

A great, great bass hero of mine. Hope you enjoy his playing too.

Hey George, I have a question about this. When he puts his right thumb on the low E while playing the higher strings, is he doing that to dampen the low E, or is it just to get leverage for his other fingers?

Ok a word from the peanut gallery!

I was wondering as a non player why he didn't use his thumb as it was already resting on the string.

Because:
"you better listen my sisters and brthers
because if you do you can hear the voices calling across the years..."

He's using the "E" string as a rest for his thumb much of the time. When he plays on the "E" string he brings his thumb back to it quickly to mute the string. Never thought about it before, but I imagine many players rest their thumb on the "E" string, as doing so gives you a better angle of attack for the "A", "D" and "G' strings.

This is part of the reason I never bothered with a 5-string bass. The lowest string on a five string in standard tuning is the "B" below "E". It's very nice to be able to play below "E" and this accommodates a lot of songs better. However, I just know that I'd fail to dampen that "B" string properly.

Or maybe not. Truth be to tell four strings was complicated enough for this lowly talented player.

Such a true song. I believe that we do owe reparations. But how much would be right? A cool million sounds proper. Talk about "Nevah hoppen GI."

"A man for all seasons."

Do please watch out for the involuntary protein spill!!
