Pops up as soon a I click the Steam icon or one of my desktop steam games. I can't reach steam itself at all. This came right out of the blue. One day All was well, next, nobody wants to know me.
In the past I've done a dozen fixes for this type of problem, but the easiest way is probably to uninstall and re-install.
Ahaa shit! I'm half way through my third go at Borderlands 2. Will steam make me start my games over when I re-install? The worst part is that Steam should turn it's back on me after all I'e done for them! LOL
Awesome! My oldest daughter and I are playing through Borderlands 2 in Mint as well. Well, if your game is syncing with Steam cloud then you won't lose your save. There is also a local save in your ~/.local/share directory too. But if you don't want to risk it, then I will look up a solution for refreshing Steam. Normally it will be something like "Delete this file and run Steam"
These posts suggest deleting your /home/daniel/.steam directory https://askubuntu.com/questions/470436/steam-cannot-set-up-steam-data If you are afraid to delete it, just rename it instead: .steam-old
You don't have to re-install... just rename the .steam folder in your home and then launch Steam again. It will repopulate the .steam folder and hopefully allow you to sign in.
