Dragon Sector Remake in UZDoom Linux

Imagine playing DOOM 2016 back in 1995 but with the original Doom engine! This is Dragon Sector!

  • Melee fatalities
  • Chainsaw
  • SMGs
  • Rifles
  • Pistols
  • Chaingun
  • Shotguns
  • RPG
  • Plasma rifle
Much much more!
Each weapon has custom loading animations, enemies have new abilities like rolling, ducking, taking cover and all weapons have aim-down-the-sights!
These custom maps are a lot of fun and well planned out! I love the stunning reflections, explosions and projectile lighting effects! All of the sound effects make Dragon Sector sound epic on your audio system! All the quality of a modern game!

When I initially tested the Dragon Sector appimage it didn't do anything at all. Ran it in a terminal and it produced errors for missing libraries. After some research and trial-n-error I realized that my Mint 21.3 needed the Legacy UZDoom. But Dragon Sector uses the newest version of UZDoom. So I moved over to my laptop running Mint 22.3 and it ran perfectly!
You will need freedoom2.wad placed in the following directory:
~/.local/share/games/uzdoom/
If the directory doesn't exist, just created it. This is one of the locations UZDoom searches for WAD files

Mint 22.3 64-bit
Intel Core i7 2.6GHz x 6
16GB RAM
GeForce Quadro T1000 Mobile
Nvidia 595
