The folks over at Github are giving away a bunch of vouchers and tools to get your feet wet. I've already set up my VPS with Ghost Blogging Platform and it's been really a pretty cool experience with digitalocean. You also get a free .me domain name or a nice discount on other TLDs

Also, the people over at JetBrains are giving away their IDE for free for a whole year (students only). I love using their tools and I'm sure you will too. https://www.jetbrains.com/student/

That's all people, remember to apply!

Ok, this sounds cool, but for the noobs, can you explain it in "simple man's" terms?

VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. They are normally used to host websites, database servers, e-mail servers, or any other type of server. Having a VPS helps a LOT if you want more power, imagine renting a linux box, you have access to shell and you can use it on whatever you want. Want to set up a VPN? Sure, go ahead.

IDE is Integrated Development Environment. It's a tool many developers uses to develop applications, libraries, etc. They are super helpful (depending on the features) on providing features that boosts your productivity thus making development painless.

Thanks for explaining.
I've always wanted my own public server. I don't have a lot of projects, but I do have some archived websites on a friends server. I 've always wanted to host public game servers as well.
Costs money, so I'm going to have to wait.
