Black Mesa is a re-make of the original Half-Life but using the matured Source engine and it is a Beautifully crafted game! It's so good that it is no longer a mod but a full game! I will never play the original Half-Life because Black Mesa is a thousand times better and more enjoyable!
As if that wasn't enough... HECU Collective team has been working on a remake of Blue Shift in the same manner... Dude this game is stunning and so very fun! Even without Gordon's suit there is a lot of fun to be had! Re-live the story of Barney Calhoun in high resolution and beautiful graphics! Not to mention some interesting new weapons and creative tools for solving puzzles... Never get tired of that!

Unfortunately I was unable to finish the 5 chapters available in the current mod... Sadly it began to run incredibly slow when playing later levels with very complex level design, and the game crashes on a "loading..." when pressing Esc. So you can't even quit the game at this point. Of course I doubt the developers are testing their mod in Linux at this point, but I was happy to play at all. I didn't think it would run at all in Linux, but I was able to play several chapters and several hours... Amazing attention to detail and extremely fun action and puzzles! I hope later releases will get some Linux attention and hopefully some optimization for older computers like mine. In fact there were some interesting texture bugs you will see in the faces on the NCPs in the screenshots.
How to Play
Download the .rar file, extract and place the "bshift" folder in the Black Mesa game directory.
Then add the following launch option: -game bshift
IMPORTANT!There is bug with the menu interface when in-game. If you press escape at any time it freezes with "Loading..." displayed. So for now, you can only play without going to the menu. Launch and kill the game from Steam.
