I haven't build a complete new box in 6 years. I just keep upgrading my old boxes. People like to give me stuff, so I don't have a problem with upgrading stuff

No doubt you built a customized overclocked screamer, Daniel. IIRC your clock speed outperforms any of the present Intel CPU's and it looks like the new i7's at stock speed are still behind you in velocity. Dunno about the Ryzens coming down the pike--but they sure are looking very good indeed!
You've had the best speed for years. Of course it required a big investment and lots of hard work, but your box has ruled the roost for years!
I got a really good chip. Spent a whole big bunch of time. Most I think do fairly well if they try. Yet these new chips look to end Intel's near monopoly... that has to be a good thing, right? ":O}
Ending Intel's near total monopoly in high end consumer processors? You go AMD! If I ever feel that I don't have enough performance I'll do my best to go AMD! It worked marvelously with Sledgehammer.
Reports of Intel price drops in response to Ryzen: https://www.extremetech.com/computi...s-response-amds-ryzen-1700-1700x-1800x-launch Guess I'll wait a bit more to see what happens. The CPU I planned on is $80 cheaper now according to this report.
Looks like AMD buyers have the wind at their backs. Here's hoping you all get the chip that will get you to the church on time...or maybe just a little early ":O}
