    Black & White PC Game

I have had this game since release around 2001. For a very long time, I could not get to run in linux or later versions of windows. It now runs nicely on Linux Mint 21.1 using Lutis. All that needed to be done in Lutris is just follow the promts.I did have to link Lutris to the cd autorun.exe...

    I'm back and still gaming!

I use a Raspberry Pi 4 8gb. Install an emulation platform on a name brand class 10 sd card. Load some roms and off you go. Pi works well as a desktop but I just use mine as retro game consoles.

I have been on Linux Mint Cinnamon since 14. Fellas here put me on to it. It was super easy to move from windows to this OS. I have had no performance problems using Cinnamon. And of course using wine I can play my games. I also record a lot of vinyl lp's to cd with linux. Getting audio working...

    P4 2.6ghz heat question

Great news! I got a used 120gb ssd drive. I have installed Linux Mint 17.2 XFCE 32bit. The machine now boots in about 57 seconds. It looks like I have shaved off about 40 seconds. Total amount to upgrade this old 11 year old machine is $75. All I may need now is a new cmos battery.

    Steam Streaming

I finally tried out Steam Streaming. I gotta say this is great! I am able to play my windows games streamed to my linux box. Some of it was a little choppy due to my connections were wireless and wired. Or I could maybe scale back video detail some.

    P4 2.6ghz heat question

This old stuff still works. If you don't mind a longer boot time. Parts are free or nearly so. XFCE behaved better when I disabled some startup services. Once up and running the old machine is pretty good.

The Samsung SSDs are great. Other post I meant to say Seagate rather than Samsung, my bad. Seagates are slow.

    P4 2.6ghz heat question

The whole bracket is plastic. I got a replacement and now it is running at around 36c. I fiddled around with some settings in bios and OS shaved about 10 seconds off boot time. It boots into full desktop in about 1 minute 40 seconds. I think the Samsung hd slows it down a lot. Samsungs HD's in...
