In Medal Of Honor 2010 you will step into the boots of a Tier 1 Operator in the most unforgiving and hostile battlefield conditions of present day Afghanistan.

    Gameplay Video:

    Conclusion:
Medal of Honor plays very well in PlayOnLinux on my GeForce 550 Ti. Only a few frame stutters when areas load, but the fighting is very fluid. No tricks or work-arounds for this one, just get Origin setup, download the game and play!

    Pretty dang fun so far!
I'm stuck with the Origin version because I got it in a EA bundle

Medal of Honor is pretty amazing!
I almost purchased Bad Company 2 as well, but no co-op with bots :(

That is strange, I was able to set the resolution in-game. Are you using the virtual desktop?
  6. vashin
yes, everything is working now. It could have been because I installed it with staging to test, but I changed it to 1.8
  7. booman
    Great! I love Wine 1.8

I did notice however while in the settings that the MAHOEngine.ini contains an entry which is default AllowD3D10=False however I don't think D3D10 has been implemented yet however the entry does exist hoping that once they do this will be useful. I could be wrong however..
  9. mrdeathjr28
DX10 and upper dont stay implement for now

However unreal engine 3 config files can allow change many things (very usefull): poolsize, dynamic shadows, light enviroment shadows, motion blur, motion blur pause, motion blur skinning, depth of field, ambient occlusion, bloom, high quality bloom, lens flares, fog volumes, radial blur and other options

In time, be patient and one day we will be able to play Direct X 10 & 11 games.
Until then, there are plenty of Direct X 9 games that work wonderfully in Wine

Updated the Origin Legacy Installer for Windows XP
  12. mrdeathjr28
Thanks to ea legacy client origin works without issues in my case too

Shamefully uplay dont have legacy client as origin

    :)
  13. booman
Awesome! Thank you for confirming. I didn't test Medal Of Honor with legacy Origin, but I noticed while testing Bulltestorm that the new Origin doesn't run at all. So legacy was the only way

Brian, do you know which ports have to be open to play the 'Tier 1' bit? I have the single player working, but can't connect to the servers while trying to play Tier 1. If I disable the firewall, it connects, but I don't want to do that.

I do not. I only tested the singleplayer campaign. I'm sure you can find something online for Windows multi-player.

Honestly I avoid multi-player games like these because a lot of time Wine isn't compatible with punkbuster and anti-cheat implementations. And I suck at them :)
  16. ThunderRd
The Tier 1 games aren't multi-player; they are different types of challenge games that are played single. But there needs to be a connection, because you qualify on leaderboards that are online.

Some holes have to be punched in the firewall to do this. I've got some of the ports figured out, but I'm not done yet. When I have a full list of ports needed to open I'll report back.
  17. booman
Really? I've never heard of this!
Please detail your findings once you get it working.
  18. ThunderRd
Ok, I think I've got it by trial and error. The executable needs the following ports OPEN:

    TCP out on ports 80, 443, 2828, 9946, 14611, 17502, and 42100

UDP out on ports 1900 and 17499-17501

This allows access to the leaderboards, and enables the 'TIER 1' challenges. I've tried this on both my Cloud Core Router and on a software firewall in both Linux and Windows. Of course, YMMV, but it works here.
