Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

When I was hungry you fed me.
When I was cold you clothed me.
When I was homeless you gave me shelter.

George you have nothing to fear in this life or the next.

Thank you very much! I wish I had nothing to fear. I did something Stoopid when I lived in NYC way back when. My shrink says "don't worry about it." As if it's his "hangover" from more than fifty years ago.

So many great song writers!
Every now and then one of them tells exactly who they are and why they are here.
I find this one exceptional in this regard. This Song tells us EVERYTHING we need to know about it's author

I had a pal in the Army. He was from Half Moon Bay (what a name!) and a fellow Northern Californian. We went to 'Nam together, afterward I saw him once. He had managed an Officer's Club over there. He was crazy about James Taylor. I think Mr Taylor is great but he never quite floateth the old boateth for me.

A different fellow California chap flew Scouts, as different a job as you could find. He was awarded 30 Air Medals in a ceremony that finally rewarded if you can call it that Viet-Nam vets medals they should have received earlier. His goofy grin at a Colonel while my friend wore an obvious short hair wig while the officer had to come back to give him medals that the Colonel missed at his first try was beyond priceless. It required a great effort from me not to burst out laughing.

Born in captivity
Born in captivity
Born in captivity
We're all born in captivity
Born in captivity

They make you stand in line for the first grade
They make you kneel in hall to the air raid
They say the saucer's coming any day
To take you and all your friends away
But thirty times it never comes
And still the natives beat the drums
And we're born in captivity
We're all born in captivity
Yes, we're born in captivity
Cossack children of the bourgeoisie

And they burn their images in your brain
And tell you what is valuable
Till it all looks pretty much the same
And you are totally malleable
And it works like magic on everyone
'Cause the camera's mightier than the cannon

And we're born in captivity
We're all born in captivity
And we're born in captivity
Cossack children of the bourgeoisie
Awaiting our delivery

Ain't this the truth. Thanks for finding this one Dan!

This is simply a favorite of mine. It's a re-post. Guilty yer honor.

Hi I'm Daniel ~
Because sometimes I like to see a song.":O}
P.S. I hope you don't mind the intrusion George!

Gulf coast highway, he worked the rails
He worked the rice fields with their cold dark wells
He worked the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico
The only thing we've owned is this old house here by the road
And when he dies he says he'll catch some blackbird's wing
And we will fly away to heaven
Come some sweet blue bonnet spring
She walked through springtime when I was home
The days were sweet, our nights were warm
The seasons changed, the jobs would come
The flowers fade, and this old house felt so alone
When the work took me away
And when she dies she says she'll catch some blackbird's wing
And she will fly away to heaven
Come some sweet blue bonnet spring
Highway 90, the jobs are gone
We kept our garden, we set the sun
This is the only place on Earth blue bonnets grow
And once a year they come and go
At this old house here by the road
And when we die we say we'll catch some blackbird's wing
And we will fly away to heaven
Come some sweet blue bonnet spring
Yes when we die we say we'll catch some blackbird's wing
And we will fly away together
Come some sweet blue bonnet spring

When all we do fails us, When the darkness in our natures reaches out for us and threatens to drag us from the light...It is then that we go in search for "Just a little sweetness, just a little light."

Just a Little Light
Grateful Dead
Well, there ain't nobody safer than someone who doesn't care.
And it isn't even lonely when no one's ever there.
I had a lot of dreams once, but some of them came true,
The honey's sometimes bitter when fortune falls on you.
So you know I've been a soldier in the armies of the night.
And I'll find the fatal error in what's otherwise all right.
But here you're trembling like a sparrow, I will try with all my might
To give you just a little sweetness,
Just a little sweetness,
Just a little light.
I have always heard that virtue ought be its own reward,
But it never comes so easy when you're living by the sword.
It's even harder to be heartless when you look at me that way.
You're as mighty as the flower that will grow the stones away.
Even though I been a stranger, full of irony and spite
Holding little but contempt for all things beautiful and bright,
Something shines around you and it seems, to my delight
To give me just a little sweetness,
Just a little sweetness,
Just a little sweetness,
Just a little light.
This could be just another highway, coiled up in the night.
You could be just another white-tail, baby, stranded on my brights,
There's a tingling recognition
Like the sound of distant thunder
And I begin to wonder
If the love I've driven under
Won't ignite.
So you know I've been a soldier in the armies of the night.
And I'll find the fatal error in what's otherwise all right.
Something shines around you that seems, to my delight
To give me just a little sweetness,
Just a little sweetness,
Just a little sweetness,
Just a little light.

50 years on and we are still trying to find a way to spare Sally what is to come...

Sally Go Round the Roses

Sally go 'round the roses (Sally go 'round the roses)
Sally go 'round the roses (Sally go 'round the pretty roses)
Roses they can't hurt you (roses they can't hurt you)
Roses they can't hurt you (no, the roses they can't hurt you)
Sally don't you go, don't you go downtown
Sally don't you go, don't you go downtown
Saddest thing in the whole wide world
Is to see your baby with another girl
Don't you go downtown (Sally go 'round)
No, don't you go downtown ('round and 'round)
Yes, because the saddest thing in the whole wide world
Is to see your baby with another girl
Sally go 'round the roses (Sally go 'round the roses)
Sally go 'round the roses (Sally go 'round the pretty roses)
They won't tell your secret (they won't tell your secret)
They won't tell your secret (no, the roses won't tell your secret)
Sally baby cry, let your hair hang down
Sally baby cry, let your hair hang down
Sit and cry where the roses grow
You can sit and cry, not a soul will know
Let your hair hang down (Sally go 'round)
Yes, let your hair hang down, yeah ('round and 'round)
Because the saddest thing in the whole wide world
Is to see your baby with another girl
Sally go 'round the roses (Sally go 'round the roses)
Sally go 'round the roses (Sally go 'round the pretty roses)
Sally go 'round the roses (Sally go 'round the roses)
Sally go 'round the roses (Sally go 'round the roses)

Can you hear what our grand parents heard in this piece... I was a push over they had me with the title!
"I don't want to set the world on fire, I just want to start a flame in your heart!"
Makes me laugh every time! ":O}

"Come and Rejoice in what the lord has brought fourth!"

This is my unequivocal answer to the anti-immigration hate mongers

I don't mind one bit when you go to find the lyrics of a song. They're important.

My oldest friend recommended this movie. I liked it a lot. I forgot that there were serious moments along with the comedy.
Thank you for posting this Dan!
