    I'll be honest, I just don't get Abba. always sounded like Bubble gum rock on pacifiers.

    But like most things there is an exception. I searched for it, no luck, perhaps you guys know it?
    It's about a condemned man who is speaking to his best friend.
    "I never betrayed you, I just didn't want to die alone."

    What I find remarkable is that the friend accepts this and forgives all.

    This goes back so far with me I don't know who first sang it for me. But they would play this at drive-in movies before the show. But I do know it was a cowboy singing. But there's nothing wrong with cow girls!

    I would advice skipping most of the praise she's given. Seemed a bit self serving to me..This offers us what she has to offer us.":O}

    The winds of change have changed direction a few times since last we spoke.

    George had a hernia operation but doesn't want us to talk about it.
    At lest that's my guess as he's only mentioned it in passing, I mean who are we that we should know he's going under the knife?

    (I'm mildly chiding you George for not keeping us up to date.)

    I've missed your posts Por Por. I thought we were going to survey the music of our lives together? ":O}

    Have things taken a turn?

    I'm hoping you just got busy with family and friends.
    Heard any good tunes lately? ":O}

    I've listened and listened to this song. I've started Borderlands 2 just to hear this song.

    It's just so raw, open and strangely loving. Love on the battlefield of life.

    Interesting song, thank you for posting it! The castanets add strong rhythmic support for the tune in a very subdued way. And I can barely hear them. Remarkable.

    I miss PPM a lot. I dissed one of his choices, so it may be My Bad. If so, I APOLOGIZE porporme!!

    Oh well, it isn't or at least wasn't considered "manly" to talk of physical ailments once upon a time. Unbelievably, the chief surgeon at Seattle's VA did the operation. Nowadays they make a few small holes in you to do operations, if they can. They're ugly little scars but they've healed very well. One of them could, I say could be seen as a bullet scar, but it's entirely too fresh to be mistaken as a war ""trophy."" And that's a GOOD thing, those kind of "trophies" no one wants or needs.

    We sang this as kids but supplied silly and what we thought of as funny lyrics of our own. I had no clue that the song was this serious. Thank you Daniel, I had no idea!

    Glad you like it. I thought the lyrics started with "Loving you was the right thing to do" for years. Then I listened more closely, and voila I got them right. The real lyrics make the song much more poignant imho. It's a somewhat biographical work. These can often be the best.

    Elvis always made this one sound holy. She certainly starts the work the same way, yet moves into her more accustomed way of handling a tune. I guess I like it, the young lady sure is something else!

    She's a phenomenon! I hope she can grow into herself more with time, I'd dislike it if she peaked so young.

    I can easily understand your reaction to Abba. At first I thought the same way. Over the years, and it's been many now I have grown a great appreciation for them. They worked hard for ten tears before "Waterloo" won the Eurovision song competition as "ABBA" in 1974. Their music was remarkable, and still is. It's weathered well four decades later. There are many tribute bands, but it's very difficult to sound as good as the original.

    They were dedicated musicians and wrote many great tunes. It's too bad that lots of other musicians "get" how great they were but many of the general public don't realize how difficult it was and is to perform as they did. For instance, "Dancing Queen" covers two octaves, no joke to sing, especially strongly. If you don't like them that's fine!
