Hello! Welcome to the forums! Could you give us more information? Please check this thread to find out what we need Usually Skyrim works almost out of the box so it's rare to see that happening. Once we have a more solid idea on what you are using we might tackle the problem down. If you are using PlayOnLinux you can easily get it by playing it '"in debug mode", although I don't know if the button is still there! I noticed that the interface has changed quite a bit.
i have playon linux im using wine 1.7.11 here is description of laptop stuff. Hmmm. Alright, by the looks of it you are using open source drivers, and if I'm not mistaken you are using an onboard card (e.g not dedicated) that could introduce some problems. In linux mint, there's a video card configuration section where it lets you choose Nouveau and other video drivers. Which one does it appear to be installed? Besides that, can you get the latest WINE (1.7.33 or 1.7.34 which ever you can get first). If you don't want to compile the latest WINE you can simply just install PlayOnLinux and get it from their repos, link to the Skyrim executable in the virtual drive and run it.

Looks like you have an Intel video chip (integrated). Not sure if its a GPU in a CPU type of setup or an integrated GPU on the motherboard, but I've read Intel drivers can be problematic with Games. I have a Chromebook with an Intel HD 2000 video chip and it can't play a lot of high quality games. So I'm stuck with older games and 2D games in Ubuntu. Do you know if Mint installed the Intel video drivers for you?
I do not know if it did that. how do i check. it used to work but had a problem with skse. it stopped working after something happened uninstalled reinstallled several times. it updated recently if that helps how do you do the code thing so i can put up the whole log file for playonlinux (figured the code: out)
I forget in Mint 16 I think if you go to: Menu Administration Driver Manager It should say which drivers are installed.
more images and the middle one is the one about drivers guessing need to install em. must be using integrated ones in linux mint. so what do you recomend on doing about that. il fix that but i do not think thats whats wrong because it worked earlier(il try it anyway).
It appears you don't have Intel's drivers installed. You can either upgrade to Mint 17 which might install them automatically or try this Intel graphics installer but I'm not exactly sure which one you could use. So Skyrim runs but there is no text? Can you actually run the game without text?
yes to the no text. no i cant get it running.. if i could i would it crashes at this menu and im not even sure what im clicking. the sounds work tho.
ok still not working got all the drivers installed. well they dont appear in driver manager. but yeah.
You might want to report it to the WINE devs and see what they respond. I'm out of ideas, mostly because when it comes to onboard cards there's just no telling which one is introducing the bugs. There might be a possibility that the drivers you have are just not working properly. Also, I'd like to make a note that: This is pretty serious problem err:d3d:resource_init Out of adapter memory Let's try this. In playonlinux you can assign video card memory in the registry. Go to your virtual drive configuration and try to assign 1GB of memory.
You did disable the Steam In-Game Community Overlay right? That can cause a lot of issues with games.
Woaahhhhh allenskd thanks soo much. that did it. been trying to fix it for ove 3 moonths no other suggestion said to do that. THANKS SOOOOOOO MUCH. this thread is <resolved> for now.
What? How the heck did that work? Play Skyrim for at least 30 minutes to make sure it doesn't have any problems I'll update the name of your thread
