This is what I have:

Now, maybe you want to make the left pane a different size?

If that's the issue, I've attached a video showing how to resize, as well as change the view of the folder.

I have always hated upgrading any operating system... starting with Windows. Back in the day I would only EVER do a fresh install of Windows XP. Never an upgrade... Probably because I read many testimonies about the driver issues, application issues and broken stuff. So I never did it. Even with later versions of Windows I would only do fresh installs at home and a work.

With the introduction of Linux back in 2006 I learned how you can install a completely different operating system with a whole new world of features that Windows didn't offer. Of course, I would only do fresh installs. Did this for years and years... one day I decided to do an upgrade of Mint just to see if it worked.... by George it did! I had no issues and all my games, drivers, features worked GREAT! I even got to a point where I upgraded my computer several times without a fresh install for a few years (I think).

Sadly even today I doubt the upgrade feature and hesitate to do it. I've seen many Daniel posts about the upgrade having bugs and he would restore an older version. So honestly I will do upgrades but only a few on one computer and eventually do a fresh install. There is something incredibly satisfying about installing Linux on a freshly formatted drive... knowing all the mess of forgotten folders, files and configurations just wiped clean.

i have Gizmo"s problem with old tweaks disappearing into the new update never to be seen or remembered again

But absolutely Agree that a fresh install is a joy unto itself!!

Just saw your presentation on adjusting the way windows can be Adjusted. well done and thanks

I have used up my eyes for today.
Rest assured tomorrow will have me hard at your instructions

Many thanks

How did the settings go Daniel?

On my 4K TV I just set:
  • Desktop Resolution to 3840 x 2160
  • User interface scale to 200%
  • Set a Windows 10 Theme
  • Change other window decorations to Windows 10 and/or Mint X
  • Change Menu icon to the Grid icon

I feel compelled to say this again!

Mint up dates really bear keeping an eye on.
This is different!!

Yesterday There was 900 meg plus update

Three days before there was another HUGE update.

It seems like every 3 days an extra large update.

I hope it doesn't sound like I'm complaining
about how diligent mint is in keeping us up to date.

Really I'm just taking note of a substantial change
in updates

As always your comments will be appreciated

i thought i posted this yesterday.
But no can find.

First for Boo. I have had my moments with mint upgrade and update. in almost every case it was my basic ignorance. when it's mint, it goes away width an update.

Do not fear mint update! LOL

mint update! is your friend.

mint update! is your ticket to the future! :O)

Now for mint users. An observation and a request for comments.

With 22.3 I'm seeing a huge increase in size (900 megs)and frequency of mint updates.3-to 4 week!
nothing seems wrong, just very much increased.

Would very much like to hear what others think .

Just got another one today Long list but very fast this time

I currently have 36 updates waiting. I typically wait for the weekend to do updates, and I may go 3 or 4 weeks before I do one.

I always used the 200% with,my 65 inch Samsung.

But with 22.3 I no longer have to. Mint just makes it work!!

So, I just updated to 22.3. That was quite the ride.

First had to make sure I had all the latest patches (obviously). Then ran mintupgrade, which complained about a number of things that I had to resolve.

Finally upgraded to Mint 22 and had to faff about with my nVidia drivers so that I could see what I was doing. Got that sorted, then upgraded to 22.3 (which actually went pretty smoothly).

THEN I DISCOVERED THE HORROR THAT IS THE NEW MENUS.

Ugh. Seriously, what was wrong with the old menus? What problem were we addressing that was so pressing it required an overhaul of the menus?

Anyway, after much mucking about, I got the menus configured back to something on the order of how I like them.

Was my settings video of any use to you?
My profound apologies! I haven't even really looked at it!!!
My life has gone to shit of late.Patti has physically attacked me three times in two days. Hysterical bitch stuff! Finger nails hair pulling.

So far I been able to defend with out doing her any harm.

She screams at me from morning until she goes to sleep.

I do value your efforts on my behalf.

AND!!

I do really hate that menu! LOL

So as soon as I can pull myself together...

Applied the updates yesterday, was a total of about 1.2 GB.

I currently have a batch of 5 new updates waiting. I'll probably get those installed sometime around June, along with whatever else comes along.
