Hogwarts Legacy is an open world 3rd person adventure with all kinds of features that most games never boast and its all there. All the magic, exploration, flying, potions, animals, enemies and much much more. The main storyline campaign is interesting, full of mystery, fantastic characters and plot.
The first issue you will notice in Linux is a very very long black screen loading before the menu. I've researched and found this happens on consoles and Windows. I'm not sure why it happens but it can literally take 20 minutes. Honestly its worth it! This game is SO MUCH FUN! I can't believe all the interactive elements and action. You really get to fly which is something I've wanted since Skyrim! There are some other graphical issues with using proton as well. My video card isn't the most powerful and my computer is getting a bit old, but I can still run the game fairly well with settings on Medium and textures on High. Frame rates can vary depending inside or outside locations and there is a huge stutter when dead enemies fizzle away. Again not a game breaker, but kinda disappointing. I also noticed some LOD textures and object that do not stream or resolve until they are right in front of the camera. Unfortunately there are some random crashes when fast traveling or loading areas. We found that most areas will load fine when you just start the game, but after about an hour of playing, it will crash reliably. So there is probably some kind of Memory leak that just gets worse when loading areas. So we just fly around the map going to the quest locations.
Hogwarts Legacy is so beautiful! I've taken about a hundred screenshots and add them to my TV background. This game is super high quality for the size of the map and all the amazing natural mountains, landscapes and castles.
