I post this here because I don't know where else to do it. I'm trying to install F@H and every time I try thi is what I get"The program can't start because OpenCl.dll is missing from your computer. Try re-installing the program to fix this problem". What can I do? Is lonely there in AOA. .
Hey Strongwolf, great to hear from ya! Yes, we have all abandoned AOA to focus on gaming and Linux. I really don't have any experience with F@H so hopefully Gizmo or one of the other guys will see your post. I'll email them.
It isn't easy, that's for sure. You need WINE and the correct wrapper for GPU folding, and TONS of patience. No single install guide seemed to worked for my particular setup, so I had to fight through it until it worked. I finally got it working a year or so ago, then they rewrote the wrapper a couple of months ago, and I did not update my setup, so it stopped working on newer versions of WINE. I have not returned to the problem since, so I am a bit behind in the technicalities. There is an existing thread on it in the forums, but it's pretty involved: https://foldingforum.org/viewforum.php?f=54&sid=6c53beb033d5227b947fdef1ae3055ea
To help you , we have to know if you are attempting to run the GPU or the CPU client, what version, and what OS. Was it running before, and it has stopped running, or is it a new install? If you are trying the GPU client in Linux/WINE, what WINE version are you running? My understanding after a bit of googling is that the v7 client now has native GPU support in Linux. I have to look into it further.
Heya boonman, good to hear from you too. I understand why the abandonment of AOA, is call evolution. What are you gonna do? I'm attempting to run both, gpu and cpu. I'm running (i hope is not a bad word here) Windows 7 64bit and is a new install.
I had a feeling you were using windows. Don't worry, we'll quietly support Windows too. I still use Windows at work and at home.
That's OK guys I get itrunning again.I even had two clients working in Two Twin Frozr cards (one each) plus the CPU client. It's a nice place you got here. I'll switch but Linux is to hard to understand, at least for me. Thanks anyway. Good luck!
cool, glad you got it running. If you want to just trial Linux on a spare computer, go ahead and try Mint 64-bit The GUI is similar to Windows and it has a lot of home desktop features. Then post here when you have questions.
