Bad mood, yeah that's me once in a while. The funny thing about The Band is that they write and perform what you could call "American Music" so strongly that no on else can top them. Those Canadians, it's always something!

I like "Evangeline" a lot, the imagery it provokes is mighty interesting, imho.

Listening to Emmylou's solo version of Evangeline side by side with her recording of the song with The Band, it turns out the the solo version is lacking a great deal. It's an OK, move along nothing to hear here song.

But she and The Band make it almost a great song.

    from my baby days...

We were on a family vacation, driving though northern Texas when I saw them!
I didn't know America had them! I thought they were strictly African.

We were doing around 50 mph.
They were doing around 50 mph!!

Prong horned antelope raced along the barb wire then one jumpec the wire and was right in front of us!!! Then it crossed over us clearing our car with ease, it didn't miss a step as it landed.

I have never been able to shake the thought than this antelope just wanted me to see what an antelope can do! It would have been more than enough that he was beautiful.

But he was fast! So fast that speed would have died of envey if speed had seen what I did that day. One more thing has stuck with me. There was a profound relaxation in that leap. There was no stress or strain. He leapt like I would walk over a small stick on the trail. In midair He LOOKED at me and then was gone. immortalized in my memory while I live.

American antelope that could out run a road blessed me in my boyhood. A sacred memory from my youth....

Wowsa, that's special. What a great memory to have! I've been across the panhandle a couple times. As a kid I liked the big emptiness of it. As an adult the monstrousness of Texas just rubbed me the wrong way.

To be honest, Texas has always rubbed me the wrong way. A friend of a friend got life in prison for a partial bust. They found particles of pot in the pocket of his jeans.

Though this was fifty years ago and I have lost touch with the one who new him, I still pray for his release.

What a severe punishment! It's sad that we Americans just love to punish others. The confusing and unnatural thing is that Texans think they live in a great place. Kewel, please stay in that "paradise" Texans. Also weird, Oklahomans envy those that live in Texas. Crazy world, or what?

No wonder the Antelope are on the run!!
But Texas does have one admirable thing I encountered
I use to listen when ever I could remember to "Austin city limits."
An NPR radio program that would play new music and review it. The reviews were often better than the music and the music was always good!

I was first introduced to The Iguanas and Lyle Lovett while listening Austin at sun down.

Agreed. Austin City Limits on PBS is or was a superior show. I haven't watched ANY tv now for years.

What a cute video! I remember the name of the song, but not the song itself. Brings a tear, I must say.

All I can remember about Froggy is that the kids laughed a lot when he appeared, or was it disappeared in a puff of smoke. So I laughed too.

My favorite music teacher did a great job with this tune, accompanied herself on the piano.

For some reason my brain kept telling me :
"This is pastel music, how can music be pastel!?
the tag line I remember is
"foggy went a curtin' and he did right unhun."

I feel I should add that this is not the no good lying frog from the Buster Brown show.!!
