This is a neato song. Thank you for posting it!

My mother came from Irish stock, County Cork. My paternal grandmother screamed at her from the steps of her castle (not really. But it was one hella big house) in Scarsdale. "Shanty Irish," what a bitch was that woman. And my mother's father was a millionaire to boot.

Scottish and German on my father's side. So "Sieg Heil!" proud. Vs Irish on me mither's side.

And each of my parents were mentally ill. Oh, what a lovely bunch of coconuts!

Oh my. I certainly remember this one, at least the "all the chapel bells were ringing " part.

My, the bridge goes on and on, but I still like it. My favorite song on this double LP is "For What it's Worth."

"Mr Soul" is also great. It has the great ending. Not "For What it's Worth." My bad, sorry.

    What's not to like?

My head and heart are very far apart most times. Letting go of the ego-maniacal me is almost impossible My head REALLY wants to stay in charge.[/quote]

Just stay with that simple truth. If you stay with it long enough it WILL humble you.
It is always extremely awkward, being humbled.

My teacher told us one day that we should garner two memories from our childhoods.

The first was to find a sacred memory., a moment in which you stumbled upon something belonging to God.

The second memory was to be one of intense embarrassment. One moment in which you made a complete and possibly mean spirited ass of yourself. Or as he put it, "one moment in which you were caught up short."
Or you failed to measure up.

You should keep this two memories close to you. one will help you on, the other will ensure sobriety.

Can you control a single atom of your being? Can you sit peacefully and contemplate a single aspect of your life?

Then you are already humble, you just don't know it yet.

Dude! The name of the game is be humble or be humbled

So begin your practice, stay with your inner conflict, take no sides, simply observe the battle.
observe it's effect upon you. Stay with it, watch the fight until they (your heart and mind) become embarrassed
Until they reach the terribly awkward moment. They Will realize of themselves, if you take no sides,

They will withdraw from the conflict because you no longer support it.
To contemplate is to take no side, but to see all sides.

    The topic of contemplation is always our-self, even when we most think it is not.":O}

Any can gain humility. One need only take a good long honest look at oneself.
    If that doesn't humble you, your just not being honest with yourself.":O}

Lady of a thousand hits. I was told once that she had the highest note in rock, until M. Carry sang a High C over C. I'm just a parroting of course

    Not many of his songs really do it for me...But when he is right he is right! ":O}

    Joe's Cult
    Sean Rowe
    You won't believe this
Unfortunate as it may have become
I know you're never gonna read this
I know they never sent my letters out
    Oh but anyway
They got me workin on a staircase
Poor little Joe with his walrus face
He's the only one I really talk to now
    Who are we workin for
I should have signed up for Americorps
    So many hungry children
We could have saved the whole world by now
Oh friends, I'm gonna be honest with you now
I am weary of our noble mission
There's a few of us that feel
We've been led to an empty house
There are some of us who know the roof is leaking
    Who are we workin for
They snake around just like a garden hose
They fox us in somebody else's clothes
Give us a little book of promises
    I want out of this
I want the things that I used to fight
I miss my money and I miss my life
    My empty bed in Chicago
Oh friends, I'm gonna be honest with you now
I'm weary of our global mission
There's a few of us that feel
We've been led to an empty house
There are some of us who know
    The roof is leaking

If only Gizmo had access to the inner web he could trill us with his favorite songs.
(You have to post at least one song before you can jump on Cloisters for his negative posts!

Oh how I wished to have a woman sing me that song when I was very young. So young that I had no concept of what a girl was--much less what a woman was!

How about it kiatain, Who rocked your world, spun your top,and broke your wheel
or just play for us your favorite lullaby if you prefer.

    Lyrics
Will you have whiskey with your water
    Or sugar with your tea
    What are these crazy questions
    That they're asking of me
    This is the craziest party
    That there ever could be
Oh, don't turn on the light
'Cause I don't want to see
Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
That ain't the way to have fun
    Open up the window
Let some air into this room
I think I'm almost choking from
    The smell of stale perfume
    And that cigarette you're smoking
'Bout to scare me half to death
    Open up the window sucka
    Let me catch my breath
Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
That ain't the way to have fun, son
That ain't the way to have fun, son
    The radio is blasting,
    Someone's beating on the door
    I'm looking at my girlfriend
She's passed out on the floor
    I seen so many things
    I ain't never seen before
I don't know what it is
But I don't wanna see no more
Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
She said, that ain't the way to have fun, son
That ain't the way to have fun,
Mama told me, Mama told me, Mama told me
    Told me, told me,
Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
That ain't the way to have fun, no
That ain't the way to have fun, son
That ain't the way to have fun, no
That ain't the way to have fun, son
That ain't the way to have fun, no
That ain't the way to have fun, son
That ain't the way to have fun, no
That ain't the way to have fun, son

I quoted this song in the book I wrote about my visit to Viet-Nam. Going there was most definitely not the way to have fun.

Here in prison paradise (more of us imprisoned than in any other country, in both sheer numbers and as a percentage of population) this song only gains in its truth.

It says "Equal Justice Under Law" on the front of the Supreme Court building in Washington DC.
    What a bald faced lie!
