    Strangely enough...Crisis 2. I never really got it to to run beyond the first 10% of the game and not even that reliably. But I just kept comming a little closer every third time or so...It took me months to just let it go and wait for it to "arrive"...if it ever does...":O}

For me it was Doom 3 in Fedora 8
I originally tried Battlefield 1942 in Wine and it actually worked, but it was really full of graphical artifacts. So I ended up using Fedora to host games like Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, Quake Wars, Counter-Strike: Source and Team Fortress 2. But I decided to try Doom 3 later because there were native binaries available. It worked GREAT! I was even able to play a co-op mod called "Last Man Standing". So I ended up playing Doom 3 and hosting the mod for my LAN.

I will need to test Crysis 2 again with the new Wine 1.8, Wine 1.8-staging and Wine 1.8-d3d_doublebuffer

When I used LInux a few years ago during high school I didn't use Linux for gaming. It's only the last 3 years that I've started using LInux as my gaming system as well.

The Witcher 2 and Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition comes to mind.

I still haven't played The Witcher 3 or Baldur's Gate II. I actually have The Witcher 2, but I hesitate because I didn't like The Witcher 1 very much. It was cool at first, then I got tired of it.

The WItcher 1 and The Witcher 2 are very different games. If you don't like TW1, chances are that you might like TW2.

I really love TW1 myself, but TW2 is very different in gameplay as well as how the story progresses. I agree with Aryvandaar that you might like TW2.

As for my first Linux game that I enjoyed...

If we are talking about native Linux games, then I am honestly not sure what I tried first. It would have been one of my Steam games, probably Amnesia or Space Hulk.

However, the first game that I tried was a Windows game. It was my first attempt at getting a game to run in Wine, and that was of course all time favorite, Might and Magic 6.

The Witcher 2 is on my "To Play List" so I'll eventually get to it.
The only reason I didn't like TW1 is because the combat was too automated and I felt like I wasn't in control. Then I got to a point where the quests had me going on several goose chases and I never figured out how to finish them. I think there was a locked graveyard and I never figured out how to enter it... among a few other quests. Just got tired of running back-n-forth. Which is strange for me, because Oblivion, Morrowind, Fallout 3 and Skyrim have you running back-n-forth all the time, but I really enjoy it.

Gizmo - Your first Linux game was AvP2 in PlayOnLinux? That is cool! Hopefully from Daerandin's guide...

The Witcher games focus more on the story, quests and characters than the open world. Even TW3 that has large open worlds focus a lot more on story, quests and characters.

Geralt the main character is somewhat of a "detective" in the books, so many of the quests can involve some detective work. There are some guides out there if you really want to play it but isn't used to the quest style or just can't find the objectives. I had problems with a few myself.

The Elder Scrolls games are RPG, but Bethesda focus a lot more on open world and sandbox rather than the RPG parts. Or at least, that's how I see it.

Just wanted to add that I have not done a guide for AvP2, the guide I did was for the AvP 2010 game, which is inferior to AvP2 in every aspect (except graphics).

If you guys can guide me a bit, I could probably do the AVP2 guide. I'm just rebuilding my system, so I'm getting ready to reinstall it again.

Oh nice! yeah, here are my rough-guide steps: Guidelines
Take screenshots of every single step...
    That would be awesome!
I totally thought Daerandin did a guide AV2, but I remember his AVP2010 guide.
We have done so many, its hard to know which games we haven't posted yet

That's not going to happen right now, unfortunately.

Seems PlayOnLinux is getting more horridly borken with every release where HiDPI displays are concerned.

    1920x1080 is SOOOO 5 minutes ago. :D

My last lappy was 1920x1280 and I had it for about 4 years. I bought this one about 18 months or so ago, so I'll be keeping it for a while yet.
