Normally it's F2 or DELETE, as soon as you hear the POST beep, just repeatedly press the key until the BIOS opens.

On second thought it could also be F12, try that if the other keys don't work.

If nothing works give us the model number and we will check it. I thought you had a computer with an ASUS board, didn't know you had a Dell. ASUS boards are all F2 or DEL, never saw one that was not.

Please do count this a the 10,000th time you saved my ass.

    Here's what happened.

I neglected doing a back up until I forgot how to enter bios To add to this I was under the impression that I needed to hit two keys, Alt or some such. as well as f3 or f2 or f9

Then I could not get it to boot to my DVD.
So I disabled my main drive to force it.

Then it decide after several boots to my main drive, to believe me that I wanted it disabled

But still would not boot to my DVD so I could clonezillia. and of course it couldn't see my disabled main drive.
So F 12 got me back into bios where I can continue to try to boot my DVD.

Many thanks, still need a backup, But I'm back to where I started and machine full operable. You saved me you saved me!

I shall reward you with a short story from my distant past!!

I was in 2nd grade, we moved about quite a bit So I was totally delighted to meet a friend!

We eat lunch together and met at the jungle gym at recess. I got there first one day and was up on the bars. I saw my friend running towards me, He as being chased by an older boy. They both stopped at the foot of the jungle gym My friend was crying. The older boy was about to hit him again.

Not a single thought crossed my mind!

I was about three feet above them. As the older boy drew back his fist I launched myself off the bar with My left arm and fist locked straight and slammed into the older boy right on the nose blood gushed out all over the place!!

My friend and I both took off running as we ran my friend a little ahead, Kept shouting to me

"you saved me! You saved me!"

I had amazed my friend his love for me was palpable his gratitude revealed to me by his laughter

The feeling it gave me was like no other!!
That friend was the first person on this Earth that looked up to me. That ever needed me.

I had not failed my first test of friendship.

OK great, it is sometimes easy to forget the hotkeys for stuff when you don't do the operation too often.
