Before you launch three videos need to be deleted in order to reach the menu
Otherwise you are stuck with a black screen because of video codecs

    • main_menu_intro.wmb

    /home/username/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/darksiders/drive_c/GOG Games/Darksiders/media/videos
    darksiders24.png

    Back to PlayOnLinux
    Select Darksiders
    Click Run
    darksiders25.png

Note: Click Debug to see errors and bugs

    Optimization

    Click Options
    darksiders26.png

    Click Advanced Options
    darksiders27.png

    Adjust Resolution & Vertical Sync
    Press Enter to apply settings
    darksiders28.png

Note: Darksiders video might not resolve correctly after changing resolution. Kill Darksiders from PlayOnLinux Configure/Wine/Kill Proccesses. Launch again

    Conclusion:
The only bugs I experienced was the flickering menu/HUD and the resolution bug. No one has been able to solve the flickering problem in Wine but its tolerable because you only see the map flickering. It is kind frustrating browsing the store, but its still possible.

I wanted to add that anyone looking for a Darksiders 2 guide will have to wait. I had it running briefly when using wine version 1.7.8-d3d_doublebuffer, but experienced a lot of flickering while playing and frequent crashes. There is also no information at all on WineHQ about Darksiders 2, so I'm not optimistic.

Awesome guide by the way! I'm glad you are taking some time with these newer games.
Try the Wine 1.7.10-CSMT maybe it will deliver more promising results.
What kind of errors are you getting?
  3. Daerandin
I'll give Darksiders 2 a more serious go either later this week or next week. I was focusing on the first game for this guide and only did a couple of quick tests for the sequel.
  4. booman
Did you experience memory leaks with Darksiders 2? Is that why you chose to use doublebuffer?
  5. Daerandin
No, I just came across a forum post while googling, that claimed Darksiders 2 worked with the doublebuffer and RAW patches. Since currently only doublebuffer patched wine is provided for PoL, I was hoping that newer wine versions would be sufficient. The forum post was on winehq and is about a year and half old.

I find that a lot too. Researching on Wine can be helpful but sometimes posts are really old.
I also get notifications of my posts being deleted. Makes me mad because some of my posts are to help others trying to run the game.
