Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood on PlayOnLinux

Probably not the most exciting game in the world, but someone could be interested to know that it works very well on POL. Well, to tell you the truth guys I only played for about 15 minutes, but everything was very smooth and without the slightest problem. And here is the interesting part: I...

List of Games I have working on Playonlinux and Wine Version used

The sad thing is that it worked very well on Wine 0.9.something. I remember many years ago I could play this game on Linux and not on Windows XP!:D Then I discovered that on XP it was necessary to use the w95 compatibility mode to install it.

    RAGE on PlayOnLinux

Booman, I think your guide for Rage will be a very simple one!:) I have no doubt the game will work well with the latest Wine, but as mentioned earlier I used the 1.6 version because it was the more recent one with a Platinum rating on WineHQ.

    RAGE on PlayOnLinux

Daerandin, I just want to let you know that you were completely right. I followed your instructions and everything worked perfectly. I played the game for about 30 minutes without the slightest glitch. The game itself feels like it was installed natively on Linux, with every setting maxed out...

    RAGE on PlayOnLinux

Thank you for the quick reply. I will try again following your advice. Yes, I had created a virtual desktop (I always do that). Have you any idea how I could install that xact_june2010 I mentioned in my first post?

    RAGE on PlayOnLinux

Yesterday I installed the Steam version of Rage using PlayOnLinux (wine version 1.6). I bought the game because it was 75% off and it is rated Platinum on WineHQ. After the download was complete, everything seemed to work as expected: the game looked beautiful with a great frame rate. After...

List of Games I have working on Playonlinux and Wine Version used

I would like to know how you were able to install Star Wars Episode 1 Racer (#329). Every time I try the installation crashes, even with Wine 1.5.0 which is the one you used. On Winehq a guy talks about the need of a no-cd crack and a registry edit, without explaining exactly what he did...

    Steam questions

Thank you Booman, that was fast. So you don't think that Valve is bothered by the fact that someone is apparently registering from (potentially) dozens of different computers?

    Steam questions

I can't comment on this guide because I don't own the game (I like mostly FPS and racing games) but I need to ask you a most likely noobish question regarding Steam on Playonlinux. I noticed on your list of games installed on POL Crysis and RAW on two different Steam prefixes; if you...

    F.E.A.R. 1 & F.E.A.R. 2 Guide

Thank you for the guides. I can confirm now that even the FEAR 1 DVD version works well with PlayOnLinux with that minor graphical glitch you mentioned and which frankly doesn't bother me at all. Basically everything worked out of the box: the only extra library I installed is d3dx9 although I...

    Infection: Last Rites - DNA

I saw on GaminOnLinux the announcement of this Horror FPS indie game. It is still in alpha stage, but according to this test, already worth playing. Available on Desura for 3.99€, which is 50% off. Does anybody have any experience with that gaming platform? Or is it better waiting for the Steam...

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

I don't think it is necessary to update every guide: maybe you could test with newer Wine versions only the games that in your opinion didn't run as well as they should.

    My Games

I would like to see a guide about F.E.A.R.: I tried installing it using a PlayOnLinux script, but it didn't work at all, with a failure a few seconds after I was asked to point to the correct DVD. On the Winehq forums I read reports of sound problems and other issues, so I decided against trying...

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Mine was a spur of the moment decision, given that I had nothing to lose. Apparently, newer version of Wine work for many guys who posted at Winehq, but I remember the first guide I saw about this game was from some blogger who had managed to run COD4MW using Wine pre-1.0!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Hi Booman, as promised in another thread, I installed again this game and this time it was a complete success! I tried with Wine versions 1.4 and 1.6 and despite a successful installation, when shooting the screen was filled with horrible graphical glitches. Of course I had patched the game...

    Metro: Last Light (Steam)

I plan to start playing on the next weekend. First though I have to try installing (again) Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare and post some information on the thread you started earlier today (on my PC it says 12:25 AM !!!).

    Metro: Last Light (Steam)

Where I live (40 km from Venice, Northern Italy) it's 29,99€. And yes, that's an ugly XP desktop on the picture, but I am at work right now.

    Metro: Last Light (Steam)

I bought it yesterday, as soon as it was reported on the linux_gaming section of Reddit. Booman, why did you convert the 30€ price in 40 bucks? Are you an American living in France? Not that there is anything wrong with that! (Well, I am quoting Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza here.:))

    Guide Suggestions?

Thanks Booman. I hope to be able to find some time the next weekend to reinstall the game using both PlayOnLinux and Crossover. No more vanilla Wine for me.
