    P4 2.6ghz heat question

I found the problem. One of the locking levers was bent a little. I attemped to unlock it and the bracket broke. The heatsink wasn''t seated properly. I didn't notice it until I was looking at it from multiple angles. I pushed a little on the heatsink and the temp dropped below 60c. I think this...

    P4 2.6ghz heat question

I fired up an old computer that I built many years ago. I installed Linux Mint 17.2 XFCE 32bit. The processor is a P4 2.6ghz with stock cooler. I can't remember what version. I vaguely remember that it ran hot. Today the bios temp was about 73c. Seems toasty to me but ran well and long enough...

    Recording Vinyl Records

I have a large vinyl record collection. They are mostly Rock Music from maybe the early 70's to late 80's. I have long ago recorded a 100 albums or so. Back then, I used various Windows based programs. I got wonderful results. I finally got a usable recording of an old Fleetwood Mac vinyl album...

    Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca

Linux Mint 17.1 is available. It looks like we will be able to update from 17 to 17.1 without a fresh install. I plan to wait awhile for them to get the bugs out. I wonder if it will bork my games? Anyone tried it yet?

I have been working on this in another direction with Suse Studio. I did get Xiphos Bible program on the distribution but have not figured out how to get the modules installed. But the disto size is around 647mb and works. https://susestudio.com

Command & Conquer The First Decade

I installed it on my desktop pc. I tried 1024x768 and others in various combinations. None worked as well. The 800x600 graphics looked great. I may work on it some more but I don't want to break it. Still, I am so happy that I'm doing back hand flips.

Command & Conquer The First Decade

Good news. I am using Linux Mint 17, Playonlinux 4.2.2, and Wine 1.7.3. I installed C&C using the above with no libraries etc.. Just a straight install with no game patches. The only problem is when closing the game POL has an error in main on the launcher. I just ignore it. I can after a long...

    Christian Distro!

I getting a better idea about this Distro idea. For instance Puppy Linux. I had some trouble with hardware recognition. Maybe because I am not familiar with it. Some Slackware distros are fast with low system requirements but I again lack knowledge. There is a whole lot to think about.
