I downloaded vcrun 2015 from Microsoft. now running arc setupup gets to login, asks for my password then says connecting then crashes.

I just requested vcrun be added to POL on the POL forums.

Nothing appeared to happen before the crash. when I click on ARC icon it runs for a second then crashes. Apparently It fails during initializing. PLO doesn't have vcrun 2015.

It works, but some people might prefer a guide. I said how I got it working above. I don't like on wineHQ.com that usually when some one gets something to work, they only say they got it working. They should say how they got it working, so others that are struggling, will know how do do it.

Not anymore!:) It is less than a minute after the STO splash screen appears until the toon selection/creation screen appears. The cryptic splash screen takes a moment before it finishes and shows the STO splash screen. Of course I'm am using an SSD, so that probably helps. I Am running Kubuntu...

Probably true. Considering that Linux is considered a major OS now, hopefully developers will start at least testing their installers under wine. Even if it's only wine for windows that will help.

I just tried the 2017 version... Garbage! The installer fails with exit code 1627. The quicken company should be nice and help test quicken via wine.

At least this game runs great on my notebook. Probably Oblivion to when I get around to installing it. I suspect a little wine tweaking might fix Skyrim. I just switched to wine 2.16, but it still needs a bit to fix the FPS. Still to poor FPS in that game.

Well it improved to the point where the game is just barley playable. Not fun yet. Waiting on the slow graphics to execute means that the Player character is always late to kill the enemy! If a dragon attacked then your character would get roasted waiting for the FPS!

I just noticed that wine 2.16, is now available via POL. I am downloading it now.

I tried turning down the graphics settings and it is a little better but still poor FPS. I will play with it some more later.

I ran it again and it played but the wine switch didn't change anything. It might just be the FPS being very low. I will try turning down the Graphics and try again. This notebook will be ten in November! HP dv6 from 2008.
