Ouch! Does this guy know what he's talking about?

I'll agree that Voyager is not on the same level as TNG and DS9, but it is still one of the GOOD Star Trek shows, unlike Enterprise. Janeway is awesome, and I'll die on this hill.

Doom Eternal runs beautifully, I was surprised that I could max all settings, even on 2560 x 1440 resolution, it runs perfectly. Dying Light is an awesome game, but it is a long game too. I have over 200 hours in it currently, but that's because I got hooked on simply exploring and searching...

Very nice collection of screenshots. I do recognize several Doom (2016) screenshots, I played through it myself during the last couple of weeks. Which reminds me, I also get Doom Eternal running perfectly in Steamplay, even with all settings on maximum it runs smoothly. I also see some Skyrim...

    Outer Wilds

I resorted to a pirated version, because it is specifically the DRM that makes Wine crash. It runs just fine if I get a cracked .exe for the game. Looking at protondb then everyone reports exactly the same, as soon as they replace the regular .exe file with a cracked one then the game runs.

That is exactly what I am doing! I have not had any issues running this game in Proton (as long as you remember to switch it to windowed in the game settings).

DVD (and bluray) is an encrypted proprietary format, and you need the decryption algorithm to play, which is proprietary. That's why physical DVD and Bluray players for computers come with this proprietary player software for Windows, which is required to play it on a computer. This applies to...

Ouch! Does this guy know what he's talking about?

I assume Mint comes with the required DVD cracking libraries preinstalled. VLC use those libraries to crack and play DVD movies on Linux. VLC is also able to play iso files without requiring you to mount them first, which is why you can play the iso files directly. As for bluray, I'm using an...

    Outer Wilds

Putting up some screenshots I took today. Basically you just explore this solar system you are in, trying to unravel the mysteries. The planets you visit are all very unique, not exactly realistic, but that's what makes it so fun to explore. The game also uses some pretty fun physics, such as...

dd does a block device copy, which still includes the copy-protection. If you want to copy just the video itself, instead of creating an iso, makemkv is king, it gives you a movie file that can be played by any media player. And makemkv handles bluray as well.

AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT crashes/green screen

For now I have disabled Dynamic Power Management, which has been known to cause issues on Linux with newer AMD cards. If I don't experience problems again for a couple of weeks then I can probably assume that disabling DPM fixed it for me. Hopefully they will eventually fix the issue properly...

AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT crashes/green screen

I don't think that is the problem seeing that on Windows people went from crashing every time they launched a game, to now being able to play without this happening much. In any case, internal temperatures in my chassis in the same as my room temperature since I got two huge front fans. I have...

    Outer Wilds

If you want to fly a small spaceship between planets and explore mysteries, then definitely look into this game. https://store.steampowered.com/app/753640/Outer_Wilds/ I don't want to say too much because it is easy to spoil the story, but I was just amazed by this game. The solar system you...

AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT crashes/green screen

This is not a support thread, I just figured I would share what I have learned after searching around a lot. On my current computer I have an AMD gpu, specifically the Radeon RX 5700 XT, and there are some issues with it. It is rare, and extremely random, but sometimes during gaming my screen...

    AMD FGLRX Drivers How To

You seem to be a lot more familiar with this than me. I also was not aware that AMD contributed so much to mesa3d themselves. I actually switched over to AMD graphics for the sole reason if being able to use the sway window manager on wayland. Nvidia decided to develop their own buffer API for...

    AMD FGLRX Drivers How To

AMDVLK is AMD's vulkan driver, and one option for vulkan support on AMD cards. Personally I use vulkan-radeon which is provided by the open source community (mesa3d). Clarification: AMDVLK is also open source, but is primarily maintained by AMD. vulkan-radeon is maintained by the mesa3d...

Frets On Fire - FOFix Help

Seems like lazy coding on the developers part if having uppercase characters in song names causes a problem. Do keep in mind that this is not the original Frets on Fire, this is a forked version. On the top of the github page it says: "Frets on Fire X: a fork of Frets on Fire with many added...

Frets On Fire - FOFix Help

In most cases you will not need source files, but this program is primarily written in Python, so you will need all the source files. There are probably a few files that can be removed at this point, but they are not taking up any significant space so I would not bother.

Oh yes, do make sure you perform a full system update first. Just do "apt update", and I would suggest you also do "apt full-upgrade" next so that your system is fully updated.

Not at all. All the virtual environment does is ensure that Python loads and installs libraries within the venv instead of the default system-wide location.

Frets On Fire - FOFix Help

The packages you install are just that, packages. The only downside is that they will take up a little bit of hard drive space. Compiling FoFiX itself does not install anything system-wide, everything is contained within the directory. The pip install command will also only install the python...
