Lolz, what is that thing Leslie is playing? Looks like something we should play on Halloween
Felix and Corky were both colorful guys, and there was a keyboard player, too, but I don't remember his name. After Felix got really bad on H, Leslie and Corky took on Jack Bruce, and did some good records, too.
Felix left the band but it was resurrected several times over the years after he got well.

Why yes. I learned only yesterday that Mr Pappalardi's wife shot him. Amazing, I had not a clue that the great Jack Bruce played with Mountain. I didn't realize that Felix Pappalardi was one of the true greats. Again, my shame (and ignorance) can be very deep.
I also play bass and sing, and bonus: I was addicted to heroin in Viet-Nam, yet never, ever approached even the toenails of Mr Pappalardi or Jack Bruce in the amount of talent I was blessed with. You know, Jane. It's always something!
I miss Gilda Radner a lot too.

Dunno what kind of axe that is. It's cool that good players can play well on shirty instruments.
When Jack Bruce played with them they called themselves 'West, Bruce, and Laing'.
And I miss Gilda, too. And Gene, too, he died a few years ago.
Did you know that Gilda's first husband was G.E. Smith? Great guitarist. Legendary on the Telecaster. Got famous with Hall and Oates, and was the band leader on SNL for yonks.
"West, Bruce and Laing." Never heard of them. Typical, of course.
Had no idea that Gilda Radner was married to GE Smith. Thank you for the history lessons!

I saw Charlie Watts but missed Steve Winwood, Bill Wyman, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. Guilty as charged your honor! On Elvis Costello's first or second tour of the USA they played everything way too fast. It takes chops to be able to play fast, but a song's romance sure gets murdered.
Oops, forgot to mention that Mr Costello et cie were coked to the gills.

And here's Gary Moore, covering The Messiah Will Come Again. A great performance, on one of the world's most revered and coveted guitars - 'Greeny'. A '59 Les Paul that was owned by Peter Green, bought for $300 second-hand in 1966. Later he loaned it to Gary Moore, who eventually bought it from him for the same $300 [or so guitar legend says]. Moore wrote 'Parisienne Walkways' on it, perhaps his greatest and most familiar tune.
It's a legendary instrument that I hope winds up in the hands of a better player than who currently owns it: Metallica’s Kirk Hammett [who allegedly bought it for somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 million dollars].
I'd like to see it in Joe Bonamassa's collection [it was actually lent to Joe for his Hammersmith shows in London], or maybe Derek Trucks's, or Jonny Lang's. Maybe Popa Chubby's as well. Any of these guys would treat it as the legend that it is.
