The new Radeon driver is top notch. If you haven't tried it yet I highly recommend you do. My games are running 1:1 with windows and I've just decided to ditch it for now. Its been pissing me off lately, as usual, and now knowing that everything here works just fin I don't think I'll be needing anything from M$ any time soon.

This is GREAT news! The only thing keeping me from using ATI cards has been the horrible performance of the Radeon drivers on Linux.

My son and I are planning a new build using the AMD Ryzen CPU for overclocking. Knowing that we can use the Radeon drivers now definitely opens up possibilities for the video card.

I only have one Radeon card in action. Its a bit older, but I don't know how to upgrade the driver. I've searched for PPA's so the Driver Manager would install it for me. I need a good Debian/Ubuntu/Mint PPA that will install the driver for me

Its built into the kernel now. If you don't have AMDGPU, radeon is used instead. AMDGPU is also in the kernel but on a LOT of systems it isn't activated. Its just a placeholder for AMDGPU-PRO to be distributed later on.
