I get all the way to the patcher. Tries to patch. Gets part of it. Fails. Waits a few seconds. Tries again and again and ... I will try to figure it out after Thanksgiving. Edit: It could be like the problem with Uplay.
The problem with Uplay was related to crypt32 and was recently fixed with Wine 1.7.30 and Wine 1.7.31 But you are already trying Wine 1.7.31 right? I had a similar problem with Swordsman the first time I tested it. The game downloaded and would launch, but never got to a character screen or login screen. As a matter of fact, I remember the graphics being all scrambled. I thought it was a problem with Gecko web browser.
Do you still have Swordsman installed? Have you tried allowing it to patch recently to see if it is running now?
Unfortunately I no longer have enough disk space to install the program. Maybe when POL 5 comes out they will add the ability to install to another drive.
I just checked Steam but Swordsman is not on Steam. I thought if it was on Steam then I could try my Steam partition but no such luck.
Unfortunately Neverwinter is not available on Steam for Linux just Steam for Windows. We still have to use POL.
Yeah, I know... but its PlayOnLinux with WinSteam or Arc. Those are the only choices we have. I'll watch progress on Swordsman because the other Perfect World games seem to run just fine. So I'm sure it will as well, unless it requires DirectX10 or something...
If it wasn't so big I could test it. It will have to wait a while, I have another game that needs 80 Gigs bytes of HD space that is also waiting! T hats a lot of space. I didn't know games had goton that large.
80 Gigs! what game is that? I've heard that World of Warcraft is around 20-30 Gigs I also read that The Witcher 3 is massive as well
Xplane 10 Global 64bit. A native Linux game! It has always been native Linux. It is the Linux answer to Micro$oft'$ flight simulator. Unlike Micro$oft it Simulates our planets atmosphere as well as everything else that Micro$oft does. It cost a bit but is probably worth it. I would watch for a sale. Keep in mind that most of the download is the simulator and you will still need to buy some DLC to add airports and planes. The steam version adds some DLC and you can find free stuff in the workshop. Edit: you will probably want a good joystick with trim controls and so forth.
That is ridiculous for game file size! Wow But anything that does something better than Microsoft gets my vote
Yep that’s for sure. I have an idea. Since Micro$oft bought out Apple at the end of the 20th century - 97 if I remember correctly - then they should nix both Windows and OSX and come up a new OS that merges the best of both OS’s. That should guarantee continued competition between the top OS’s of witch Linux has defiantly joined. I just found out. If you accidentally close the tab in the browser while you were still typing a response on this forum, it will remember most of what you had typed when you get back.
I didn't know Microsoft bought out Apple.... I thought they were two separate entities? yes, Zenforo has a cool auto-save function. Probably has something to do with cookies.
Apple was going bankrupt and Steve Jobs said he no choice but to 'make a deal with the devil'. He was joking about the devil part since the two company’s had a long standing rival but Steve and Bill were friends in real life.
I deleted some of my Steam for Linux games until I got 97 G of space. I am downloading Xplane 10 Global 64bit. Looks like about 2 hrs and 44 min left. It started at over 3 hrs!
See the Steam for Linux part of these forums for a screen shot. I haven't figured out how to steer yet but the manual is large.
