Rise of Flight is a free-to-play combat simulator with online battles and campaigns. Of course you only get two planes for free and the rest have to be purchased. But once you get your Controller or Joystick setup with the 400 controls and your plane is in the air, all the combat simulator natalgia hits you in the face.
Follow my step-by-step guide on installing, configuring and optimizing Rise of Flight in Linux with PlayOnLinux.
Note: This guide applies to the Steam version of Rise of Flight. Other versions may require additional steps.
Tips & Specs:

Conclusion:
Rise of Flight ran perfectly. I didn't even have to install dotnet35 as recommended on Steam. I was able to fly fullscreen with my old Logitech joystick and program all the buttons I needed. Now I completely suck at flying simulators, so I didn't bother with a video, but all the controls are there. All the settings are there. All the graphical eye candy is there too. Beautiful game with a lot of planes to fly.
Note: Did never tested online play with other players.
Note: Windows XP will no longer be supported by Steam at the end of 2018. Wine has not provided a way to download free-to-play games with the broken store.
