Play as Cutter Slade and explore alien planets looking for a U.S. probe. There is a twist though, the alien races thin you are the Ulukai (Messiah) coming to free them from oppression. Outcast boasts large non-linear maps full of life, loads of dialog, clever Sci-Fi story, AI that take cover, run, get backup and hunt you down.
Follow my step-by-step guide on installing, configuring and optimizing Outcast in Linux with PlayOnLinux.

Conclusion:
Outcast ran really well though I've read that it renders with the CPU instead of video card. It automatically played in resolution 1920x1080 and boasts a lot of features not found in games at the time. The default keyboard controls were not WSAD and didn't make a lot of sense, so I found the config.ini and made adjustments from there. I even tried to set the resolution to 1920x1080 but the game would freeze in random intervals while playing. So I left the display settings alone.
