My game crashes in Linux when clicking on the store, then riotgames has the nerve to give me a penalty as if it was my fault. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Penalizing your players? Not very encouraging to make me what to come back.
I can think of a few - like Everquest UFC 2009 Undisputed Call of Duty Halo Reach Tekken Revolution Everquest II Defense of the Ancients MechWarrior Online Team Fortress Mann Up WWE '12 Heroes of Newerth Spartacus Legends Assassin's Creed Smite Spiral Knights. Pretty much games where deliberate disconnections can have an impact on the game for other people. Unfortunately there's no way to tell the difference between a disconnection and a crash - either way around, the connection gets closed.
I guess I can see the need to protect the user...but maybe they could be a bit nicer about it....even let the players decide who really needs a warning shot across the bow?
Wow, they all have penalties? What about if I close a game because I have to go to work and can't finish? Do I get penalized for leaving then? I normally play Drakensang and Neverwinter online and its all drop-in-drop-out with no penalties at all. Gives the player more freedom.
Exactly, games are supposed to be entertaining... Being killed over an over is punishment enough, but I guess if you have a large enough following you can afford to kill those lazy players who join a game and just leave. But at the same time, if they are banned, they can just signup again with a new email. Guess they will have to be banned via IP address.
Banning by IP is stupid as well, because anyone on a dynamic connection (DSL, Cable, etc.) will likely change IPs on a regular basis.
Agreed! My IP is dynamic so banning it would be a waste of time, but they apparently got to try something... right?
