Given the new weather world we live in...One does well to ask: What's the weather like where you are? If it's to hot to run your computer or to cold to sit still typing...I understand. ":O}
We are going to be 'bitterly cold' this coming week. Apparently, slightly below freezing is now 'bitterly cold' in a part of the country which routinely experiences AT LEAST one day a year of sub-zero weather, and upwards of a month below freezing. ???confused???
Think on those we care for and let them warm our hearts. But Nobody cares for sloppy weather reports. Speaking of weather reports and reporters There are at lest three very pregnant weather ladies on air in my local How dare they bring the children into climate change! How dare we bring climate change to our children? Still pregnant ladies are a joy to behold.":O} It DOES at last feel like winter in Ravensdale! Light snow on the ground and a chilly breeze. I think I'll let Patti wear shoes when she goes out to day... Unless you guys think that would be overdoing the whole winter thing?":O}
Its perfect here in Arizona! Still wearing t-shirt and shorts all day. I take my daughter to the skatepark on Sat/Sun mornings and it is under 50 degrees, but warms up quickly. I love it!
84F 42% humidity? Amazing! The weather people were yakking about "Snow. Oh noes!" for about a week. We got about half an inch (~1 centimeter) of the white stuff last night. Looks very pretty when it's fresh, causes lots of traffic problems if it sticks around. Love the way that it decreases noise.
Ravensdale is really into the white stuff this year, we have about 4 inches on the ground and it continues to drift down. Guys, this is the time of year that any sudden absence on my part should be a matter of little concern. When it snows we almost always lose power. So I'll be in my great big bed with 3 down quilts a flash light lantern and the I-Ching. Mr. Heater heats the room I lie in, Very economic propane.portable space heater. Besides when it gets cold my cat rediscovers he needs me. I bring our parrot into the heated bedroom/living room/computer room/dining hall/bowling ally as well. It's almost like one big happy family...for the first three days then the cat starts to get pushy about the blankets! And that's just not something my parrot Jamaka and I can live with! ":O} Lost power yesterday but it only lasted around 4-5 hours. I has last as long as a week in the past. Be well in any weather!":O}
Hello everyone, I only have two exams left (out of five) this semester. The last two exams are in subjects that I find easy so I can finally start to have some free time again. Best of all, since I've managed to get through the first semester I have proven to myself that I can do this. Just five more semesters..... Here in northern Norway temperatures have been slightly higher than usual. Temperatures are just barely below freezing, mostly staying at -3° C. It has been snowing on and off for several weeks so there's not a single spot of ground that is not covered in a decent amount of snow, even the roads are completely covered in snow/ice. Two months from now I expect we will have the usual 1 meter of snow, maybe up to 1.5 meters. We can have a meter of snow falling over just a few days, but the snow compresses quite a lot when lying on the ground. A couple of years back I remember waking up and finding snow on the roads that reached up to my knees. The people driving a snowplow for a living had a lot to do that day.
I'm a few days late to the game, but since I am not too far from you, I can testify that it's quite cold. But, my minibeast Linux rig throws off enough heat to warm my little bedroom. BOINC and Folding@Home can be your friend when you don't have a heater vent or base board heaters in the room. ;-)
Plan your work and work your plan you seem to be doing great! Congratulations Daerandin! It also looks like the weather is just right for studying! LOL
It's still snowing here, so you got your post in under the wire! ":O} Your not the only one who relies upon CPU speed for warmth . But when the power goes out there's pretty much just me and the wall I stare at.":O}
Losing power for a whole week is not acceptable, I hope that never happens again! I live about a kilometer or so from a small commercial area. Five hours is the worst here, so far. Glad that your cat has a "sense of humor," I had one like that a few years ago. It shredded an entire Frederick & Nelson custom made couch from stem to stern. And bit you for no reason at all. Luckily they weren't serious bites! Flashlight and plenty of batteries is a must, reading isn't so bad when pixels won't dance for you.
I usually enjoy the first three days, as you pointed out white is a quite thing that brings people home to their families. After three days I start looking for some relife from the quite and the deep foot prints outside my door.
Not alien footprints I hope. Looks like a long icy period straight ahead. I'm no ace on the ice but there are far too many that don't have a clue.
After three days they the footprints of the alienated sinking deeper as the snow gatherers around me...":O|
Hoo boy, the impetus toward total alienation is stronger than ever. Can't go there myself, fortunately(?) I'm more than a bit worried about our P-E. Those "drain the swamp" promises vanished instantly. It'd be nice if the folks who supported him took notice of this. Maybe they have. Sorry about the politics, concern can get mighty strong.
Truthfully? I really doubt we we ever seat him as President. I think he will be lucky not to be charged with treason. But I never believed for a moment that Bush would be elected. So we wait for this time to fulfill itself.
