There is a new (several months old) Mint 22.1 XIA That wish to install

.But the rules for mint install have changed

I can't install by simply telling Update manager to update me. this option dose not seem available

So I downloaded the ISO and burnt a DVD disk.

But I can't get my dell computer to boot to it.

I use clonezillia to make my back ups I have it on a DVD that
burnt. works without a hitch. I boot to the cloneziliz disk without any problems

would someone wiser than I care to make a few suggestions?

As there don't seem to be any wiser than I about...:O

Who wants to know why I couldn't install 22.1?

50 bucks says no one can guess!

After countless hours (at lest 25 hours) of endless frustration
The completely stupid and unthinkable occurred to me.
I have a new Dell. Why would that matter? it shouldn't Right?

Well Dell has done something no one else even thought of!!
They decided that no other keyboard should be able telll my machine
which drive should boot from.

so my 90 dollar Logitech f 12 key had no effect on my boot up
Solution:
Us my cheap as shit Dell keyboard (available any where for 15 bucks)
had to be reconnected for F12 to be seen and boot to my 22.1 install disk.

Still setting up my OS but every thing seems fine and my logiieck works fine once i get past
install.

Permit me to say
Stupid stupid stupid Dell!!!

Thanks for your attention!

UGH! Why Dell??? Why???

I've had many frustrations installing Windows at work in the past like this. All the BIOS UEFI settings like TPM and Secure Boot. Its crazy! We don't want to deal with all this security when we just want to install Linux.

So how is it going so far Daniel?
Is Mint 22 looking good and stable?

Hey Boo I hope you and yours are doing well?

things are still a bit merkey for me

XIA seems rock solid No bad surprises so far

Lots and lots of new stuff i haven't had time to explore

It comes with a pretty big Firefox upgrade

Without meaning to this is how my GOL site looks

not at all sure why , i was messing with a lot of settings...
but i couldn't reboot properly, i got logon i shouldn't have gotten that asked for a password it shouldn't have asked for then didn't recognized my password. about 15 times
couldn't get past that.

So did a restore from Clonezillia, I'm good now but lost several hours of work

So recommend getting a back up right away to avoid the slim possibility of having to reinstall

I'm still trying to understand why your desktop looks so huge. It's like you're running 320x200 or something.

Yeah, it kinda looks like the resolution is really low.
This happens to me when playing an old game and it sets the resolution to 800x600 so I have on my desktop a script that sets it back to 1920x1080 cause I can't do anything in Mint with a low resolution.

I'm still using Mint 21.3 on all of my computers. It's still very stable and runs great! I still get a lot of updates as well, but I stick to Chrome.

What is the scaling in Chrome set to?

There's a 'Zoom' setting in the Chrome settings menu on the top right-hand side in the 'Hamburger' menu. You can increase and decrease the zoom there. I'm betting your Zoom in Chrome is set high or something.

You can also do this directly from the keyboard:

Ctrl-Minus
(That's the Control Key held down with the '-' key)
That will reduce Chrome's Zoom factor.

Ctrl-Plus
(That's the Control Key held down with the '+' key)
That will increase Chrome's Zoom factor.

Please note, if you have a 10-key numpad, DO NOT USE THE +/- KEYS ON IT. THEY WON'T WORK.

You have to use the regular keyboard +/- keys.

I was thinking the same thing.
It could be a combination of large font in Mint Cinnamon and zoomed-in Chrome
