Hello! I am looking for a way to install Resident Evil 4 on PlayOnLinux 4.2.9 on Ubuntu 15.04. I tried basic POL install, but it failed. Who can help me with some explained tutorial or somethign? P.S. I have the following file for tests: http://kinozal.tv/details.php?id=1357415 Thanks for advice!
This game have some problems in my case -characters appears black -runs very slowly around -10fps However Resident Evil 4 no HD version have mods too for textures but not same HD version but this is is playable and runs ok Only thing have relation with cinematics however with quartz can be possible pass this situation, in my case use lavfilters
I more need tutorial. I wanna use this: http://www.re4hd.com/ When it is finished on Resident Evil Ultimate HD, but I don't know how to install...
Here is a log: http://www.pasteall.org/61339 What I get is a blank window(transparent) of Resident Evil 4 game (basicly an invisible window) and an error message. What is more, I can not succeed to install the DX from the popup in installer, but I install the d3dx_36 anyway. What's the problem?
Nothing pops out in that log Do you have the newest nvidia drivers installed? Looks like there are some video codec problems: WineHQ Quartz package might fix it as MrDeathJr wrote.... Or just go to the Resident Evil game folder and rename: Movies But you won't be able to see any of the cinematics Try installing the packages: Directx9 This should install all related packages for Direct X 9 Last, if the game plays and you get a bunch of slow frames per second, try this version of wine: 1.7.19-WGL_WINE_surface2
I have 346.59 drivers. What about quartz package? Where to get it and how to use it? Tried renaming the movie folder. I have Direct X stuff installed. Hm... Sounds like to do after I fix game.
I see log and you stay using resient evil 4 hd, in my case this version dont work good as commented before, only works classic version aka resident evil 4
In this case I need HD, because the patch I mentioned before(re4hd) which provides high quality textures and models requires Ultimate HD version. I can try non-HD version too, but that doesn't mean that I don't need to get HD version installed. I need to do it somehow...
In this case you dont have this problem, in my case have installed resident evil 4 and allows install resident evil 4 HD because them in default install in different locations Respect patch (very good improvements above regular textures) i see sometime ago but not finish right????, still only have textures for village????
It has the island in WIP and will get finished soon... However, I need a step-by-step explanation on how to get Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD running on my Ubuntu 15.04 machine.
I wish I had Resident Evil 4, then I would do all the work and create a step-by-step guide. Were you able to get the regular non HD Resident Evil to run at least?
I didn't try, also not sure where to download it... Can you try making guide for this torrent version I pointed you to?
There is a chance that torrent version is not up to date, or it may be buggy... It hard to know if a game really runs until you buy it and test it. I know that other versions of Resident Evil have problems as well.
Yes, they have... Why does people not produce it for Linux? It is not such difficult, it is just in their minds...
Too much politics and money involved. I've read many articles and big companies chase money which is in Windows. Small indie companies need as much attention they can get, so multi-platform is the only way to go. I was reminded by a friend that Windows had to fight this exact same fight when DOS was the "big" operating system. None of the games were Windows compatible, so developers had to port their DOS games to Windows. Just like developers are doing now with Linux. In time...
