So earlier this week I was thinking "why not", and did something new. I recorded a Space Hulk mission, playing on Linux of course. This is definitely not going to be anything regular as doing guides is my focus. However I will do some videos now and then if I feel I have a game I want to show. Hopefully someone out there will see that Linux really works as an OS for gamers.
Whaaaaaaaat!!!??? You finally did a video? Thats awesome! Feel free to post them on Google+ Nice video, glad you were doing the commentary too. Space Hulk is painfully slow... don't think I'll be playing that one
It is turn based Actually I get very involved when playing this game, especially the more difficult levels. I just have a passion for this game. I will definitely play the next Space Hulk game when it comes out, and do a video of it. That game will do away with the board game mechanics and introduce rpg elements, so I am very excited to see how it will be.
Exactly! I am so NOT patient with turn-based. There are a few games I have played, but are way more "arcade" So are you going to do video's for all of your games? I have thought about video guides, but it would be a lot of work because I still want to do regular guides as well.
I will definitely not do for all my games, I don't have the time for it. Being the person I am, I'll probably pick some more obscure titles. I'll try to do some graphics intensive games as well at some point so that Linux performance can be seen. But mostly I want to do the games I enjoy. Video guides is something I'll not do. Just editing this video turned out to be quite a bit of work. I imagine doing a full install guide on video would take a LOT of time.
Agreed! My videos are totally unedited, right from simplescreenrecorder to youtube But if I had to do commentary and edit it all, that would take a lot of time... specially on top of the standard guide. What recorder are you using?
I used recordmydesktop to capture the game video and audio. I used Audacity to capture my commentary so I had that separate. Then I edited it all together in the OpenShot video editor.
Very impressive. Simple Sound Recorder seems to do everything I need. I wonder if there is a way to include a mic in the recording as I play? I have OpenShot video editor. Tried it recently and it does everything I need for basic video editing.
