I spent the last two mornings trying to install Fable: The Lost Chapters What a pain! I still can't get it installed. I even researched what other people did on winehq but still won't work. I tried the automatic scripts from PlayOnLinux, but it crashes I tried installing recommended packages via winehq, still crashes during install. I tried wine 1.4 and a current wine 1.5.24 but nothing... Tomorrow I'll try one more time, maybe with a really old version of wine just to get it installed? Othewise I'll give up for now and move on to a different game... geesh what a pain!
I hate having to give up on a game... But three years ago none of these games would be running like they do , Three months from now...who knows!? ":O}
Yeah, with Linux its always a good idea to go back and try them again in a few years. Turns out I got Fable to run! When I was copying files from the CD to my hard drive, I missed a bunch of audio/video elements. Why they separated the audio/video from the .cab files? who knows? And I was getting and error about one stinking .tmp file After fixing those, it installed and played pretty good.
Now this is the type of "abnormal" install that stops most guys in their tracks...Me for instance! This will be of real use to any one frustrated by the usual install procedures! Your going to make a name for GOL! ":O}
Exactly! Linux can be sooooo sensitive when trying to run a certain game... if you miss one step, it won't run So our guides will be invaluable because I cover ALL the steps. I make all the mistakes for you, troubleshoot all the different configurations and then give you the steps for a sucessfull installation. Like Assassins Creed! Now it works, but previously I installed it 3 times and had problems.... who knew?
I got it ready last night. Just have to stop by the post office! If you don't like Assassin's Creed, I'll be very mad!
let me know when it arrives. By the way, in response to the other thread... get a nice Playstation controller for your PC and Assassins Creed should run great. It was made for consoles first, then ported to PC
